Reward, Emblem of
The crown symbolizes victory and reward for faithful Christian virtue throughout history.
The crown has been a symbol of victory, and of reward for superior virtue, from all antiquity. In very ancient pictures, a hand is seen coming out of heaven presenting a wreath or circlet; afterwards it is an angel, who descends with a crown, which is sometimes a coronet of gold and jewels, sometimes a wreath of palm or myrtle.
