Privacy Policy | SermonIndex

Effective 26 September 2026

Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains how we handle information on our website.

Data Collection

We do not ask you for anything. There is no account, no advertising, and no third-party tracking on this site.

Like every website, our CDN keeps standard access logs, which include IP addresses. We use them only to count how many people are reading and roughly where in the world they are — city level at best, and often only the country. The addresses themselves are never stored alongside that count, and nothing we keep identifies you.

We also record, anonymously, which pages are being read, so we know what is useful to people. That record has no name, no account and no address attached to it.

We do not sell, share, or hand any of this to anyone.

The Browser Extension

The SermonIndex browser extension collects nothing. It has no account, no key and no analytics of any kind. Your settings and the list of sermons you have downloaded are stored in your own browser and are sent nowhere. The extension requests access to no website you visit and cannot read any page you open.

Voice Skills

The Sermon Index skill for Amazon Alexa asks for no personal information and has no account to sign in to.

So that you can say “continue” and pick up where you stopped, the skill stores one small record: the sermon you were playing, your position in it, and the short list of sermons queued behind it. That record is keyed to the anonymous user identifier Amazon assigns to your device for this skill. It is not a name, an email address, or anything we can trace to a person, and we cannot use it to recognise you anywhere else — including on this website.

We do not sell, share, or analyse it. Disabling the skill in the Alexa app removes it.

Audio is streamed from our own servers and from our Internet Archive mirror. Amazon’s own handling of what you say to Alexa is governed by Amazon’s privacy notice, not this one.

Cookies

This website does not use cookies.

Cookies are small text files stored on your device by websites you visit. They are often used to remember your preferences, track your browsing, or provide personalized content. Since we do not need to track or remember anything about your visit, we do not use cookies at all.
