- Ignorance
- Blind acceptance
- Email about kidneys stolen, in tub of ice
- Chain letters of all kinds
- Common views - anything that supports our view is accepted
- Emails about taking “ Touched by an Angel” off the air.
- Copies of petitions about O’Haire taking religion off radio.
- Abortion, gun control, taxes, etc. Others deceive us1. With vain words - Ephesians 5:62. Fair speeches - Romans 16:18 Good words and fair speeches they deceive
- Enticing words - Colossians 2:4 Not anyone should beguile you with enticing words
- Simple (innocent, harmless, unsuspecting) - Romans 16:17-18 Satan deceives us1. Revelation 20:3 - Satan should not deceive the nations
- 2 Corinthians 11:3 - serpent beguiled Eve, simplicity of gospel We deceive ourselves1. 1 Corinthians 3:18 - Seems to be wise - becomes a fool
- 1 John 1:8 - say we have no sin = deceive ourselves
Mark 13:7-9
- TITLE: Perilous Times
- TEXT: Mark 13:7-9: We are living in dangerous times.
- What? KEY WORD: Lessons READING: Same :1. This passage reads like this morning’s newspaper.
- It is as if this was written last week.
- What can we learn about these “perilous times”? Notice the Description - " TIMES" Time of - Danger, treachery, materialism, immorality Violence, war, terrorists, civil strife = Daily news WHAT CAN WE DO?1. Exert wholesome influence where we are.
- Be a light to a crooked and perverse world. Matthew 5:163. Keep us “unspotted”. James 1:27: Wherever you go, whatever you do -Be Christian!
- Your influence is greater than you think.
- Others are seeing your “gospel” 2 Corinthians 3:1 Look at the matter of Christian Morals Millions have lost their sense of decency, right and wrong.
- Selfishness, Greed, Deceit, Fleshly Lusts
- Many Christians - Warped by the world It is time to get back our basic moral values.1. Recognize that moral values are constant, eternal.
- WRONG IS ALWAYS WRONG!
- Wrong is wrong even if “Everybody does it”
- 10 Commandments = Set of moral principles.
- Christ amplified and gave deeper meaning to them. Look At 2 Timothy 3:1-51. Every item is on the increase in our society.
- Parental authority challenged, Violence in schools
- Ungrateful - Better off than ever, and less satisfied
- Without natural affection -
- Abortion - no love for an innocent unborn child
- Child (and elderly) abuse - no concern for own family
- Homosexuals - (Romans 1:26-28)
- Toward property - vandalism, stealing, arson
- Toward authority - police, court system, lawyers
- Lovers of Pleasure more than lovers of God
- Football player fined $111,111 for missing a game to be with wife during delivery of their child.
- Stay out late Saturday night, take communion Sunday night.
Mark 13:12-13
- TITLE: Hated by All
- TEXT: Mark 13:12-13: Christians must be prepared to suffer for Christ.
- What? KEY WORD: Principles READING: Same :1. Many believe that Christianity solves all their problems.

- We must pay the price because a price was paid.

Mark 13:14-19
- TITLE: Jesus’ Advice
- TEXT: Mark 13:14-19: Advice from Jesus must be taken seriously.
- What? KEY WORD: Instructions READING: Same :1. Jesus offered the apostles some advice in the middle of this discussion.
- Follow this advice and you will live.
- Ignore it and you will die. Read the Prophets (14)1. God tells us what we need to know

- Even when it looks bad - God can work things out for good

Mark 13:32-37
- TITLE: Jesus is coming
- TEXT: Mark 13:32-37: We must avoid speculation about the second coming.
- What? KEY WORD: Events READING: Same :1. Jesus is coming again. John 14:32. Among most religious people there is little dispute about His coming.
- There is much discussion about:
- When will he return?
- What will happen when he returns?
- Are there signs of his return?
- Here are the events that will take place at the end of time. Christ will return1. Christ promised to return. John 14:32. The time of His coming is unknown. Matthew 24:36; Mark 13:323. Christ will descend and we will rise to meet Him. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 Dead will be raised1. Many believe that death is the end of things. Not true.
- Here is what happens at death. Ecclesiastes 12:73. At the 2nd Coming, there will be a resurrection. John 5:28-294. Only one resurrection of both righteous and wicked. Acts 24:155. The new body will be immortal, spiritual, eternal.
- We do not know what this new body will look like. 1 John 3:2 Change the living1. There will be people living when the Lord comes. They will be changed.
- 1 Corinthians 15:51-523. Flesh and blood cannot enter heaven. 1 Corinthians 15:504. Our body is corruptible and mortal. New body will be incorruptible and immortal. Bring this present world to an end1. The earth is only temporary.
- The world will be destroyed. 2 Peter 3:10 The judgment1. All who have ever lived will be at the judgment.
- 2 Corinthians 5:10 - For we must ALL appear before the judgment seat
- 2 Timothy 4:1 - Will judge the living and dead at his appearing
- Solomon’s wisdom - Ecclesiastes 12:13-143. Small and great - Revelation 20:124. Each person will be judged individually. Romans 14:11-125. Christ will be the judge. John 5:22; Romans 2:166. The Word of God (Bible) will be the standard of judgment. John 12:48 The kingdom will be delivered up to God1. The Kingdom is the church. Matthew 16:18-192. The Lord’s Kingdom is not of this world. John 18:363. Our citizenship is in heaven. Philippians 3:204. The Bible rejects the idea that Christ will come to set up a kingdom on earth.
- When Christ comes again, His kingdom will end - not start. 1 Corinthians 15:24 The reign of Christ will end1. Christ is now reigning. 1 Corinthians 15:24-282. At His resurrection and ascension to heaven, Christ was given dominion, glory, and a kingdom. Daniel 7:13-14
