Self-Compassion

10 sermons

The biblical concept of self-compassion is rooted in the idea that believers are called to love and accept themselves as they are, just as God loves and accepts them (Romans 8:28, Psalms 103:13-14). This notion is closely tied to the Christian faith's emphasis on humility, gentleness, and kindness, as seen in the example of Jesus, who demonstrated compassion towards others and encouraged his followers to do the same (Matthew 11:28-30). As the Psalmist writes, "The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love" (Psalms 103:8), Christians are reminded to extend this same compassion to themselves, acknowledging their weaknesses and limitations, and trusting in God's loving care. By practicing self-compassion, believers can cultivate a deeper sense of inner peace, security, and trust in their relationship with God.
