genealogie] In that Josephs genealogie was not first set down, but Judah’s, Chap. 2. 3..2 Judah prevailed] Genesis 49:8; Genesis 49:10. Had a pre-eminence in honour, even in the wildernesse (Numbers 2:3.) and ever after; and a royall dignity, from Davids time to the captivity: and after that, some of their chief governours, and great senate, were of that tribe, till Christ the everlasting King sprang out of that tribe.
