37therefore I will surely gather all the lovers with whom you found pleasure, all those you loved and all those you hated. Ezekiel 16:36 Summary
[This verse is talking about how the nation of Israel had turned away from God and was chasing after false idols and sinful pleasures, kind of like a marriage partner who is unfaithful to their spouse, as seen in Jeremiah 3:8-10. God is saying that they had taken the good things He had given them and used them for evil purposes, similar to the warnings in Deuteronomy 31:20. He's also sad because they had even sacrificed their own children to these false gods, which is a horrific sin, as mentioned in Leviticus 18:21. We can learn from this verse to be careful not to let our own desires and temptations lead us away from God, and to prioritize our relationship with Him above all else, as encouraged in Matthew 6:33.]
Frequently Asked Questions
What does it mean to 'pour out your wealth' in Ezekiel 16:36?

Why does God mention the 'blood of your children' in this verse?
The 'blood of your children' refers to the horrific practice of child sacrifice, where Israelite parents would offer their children as burnt offerings to pagan deities, a practice condemned by God in Leviticus 18:21 and Jeremiah 32:35.
