10Because they have led My people astray, saying, ‘Peace,’ when there is no peace, and whitewashing any flimsy wall that is built, 11tell those whitewashing the wall that it will fall. Rain will come in torrents, I will send hailstones plunging down, and a windstorm will burst forth.Cross References

Ezekiel 13:9 Summary
[Ezekiel 13:9 tells us that God is against prophets who speak lies and false visions, because they are leading His people astray. This verse reminds us that God is a God of truth and justice, and He will not tolerate falsehood, as seen in Psalm 119:160, where it says that God's Word is truth. We can trust that God will always guide us with His true Word, and we should be careful not to follow false prophets who speak lies, but instead seek guidance from God's Word and His true prophets, as encouraged in Psalm 25:5.]
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the main issue God has with the prophets in Ezekiel 13:9?
God is against the prophets who see false visions and speak lying divinations, as stated in Ezekiel 13:9, because they are leading His people astray with their false words and visions, as seen in Ezekiel 13:10.
Will the false prophets be part of God's people?
According to Ezekiel 13:9, the false prophets will not belong to the council of God's people or be recorded in the register of the house of Israel, and they will not enter the land of Israel, emphasizing their separation from God's community, similar to what is described in Psalm 101:5.
How will God's judgment on the false prophets reveal His character?
Ezekiel 13:9 states that God's judgment on the false prophets will demonstrate that He is the Lord GOD, showing His holiness and justice, as also seen in Exodus 34:6-7, where God describes Himself as a God of justice and righteousness.
What is the result of following false prophets?
Following false prophets can lead to spiritual deception and separation from God, as warned in Ezekiel 13:10, and as seen in other scriptures like Matthew 7:15, where Jesus warns against false prophets who come in sheep's clothing but are actually wolves.
Reflection Questions
- What are some ways that I may be listening to or following false prophets in my own life, and how can I discern the truth?
- How can I ensure that I am seeking guidance from God's Word and His true prophets, rather than relying on my own understanding or the words of false prophets?
- What are some potential consequences of speaking lies or false divinations, and how can I cultivate a heart of honesty and integrity in my own life?
- In what ways can I be a beacon of truth and hope in a world filled with false prophets and deceit, and how can I point others to the true God of the Bible?
