Carnal Behavior

1 sermons

Carnal behavior, as addressed in Scripture, refers to living according to the flesh rather than the Spirit, leading to a lifestyle that is contrary to God's will. In 1 Corinthians 3:1-3, the Apostle Paul confronts the Corinthian church, indicating that their divisions and quarrels stem from their carnal nature, as they are still infants in Christ. This highlights the struggle between spiritual maturity and fleshly desires. Romans 8:5-8 further elaborates on this dichotomy, stating that those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, which ultimately leads to death, while those who live according to the Spirit experience life and peace. Jesus teaches in Matthew 15:19 that out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, and other sinful actions, emphasizing the importance of inner transformation. The call to abandon carnal behavior is echoed in Galatians 5:16-17, where believers are urged to walk by the Spirit to avoid gratifying the desires of the flesh. Ultimately, 2 Corinthians 5:17 assures us that in Christ, we are new creations, called to live in a way that reflects our new identity, moving away from carnal inclinations towards a life that honors God.
