Anniversary

The term "anniversary" as understood in modern contexts does not have a direct equivalent in the Bible. However, the concept of commemorating significant events is present throughout the Scriptures. The Bible frequently emphasizes the importance of remembrance, particularly in relation to God's acts and covenant with His people. For instance, the Passover in Exodus 12:14 is described as a lasting ordinance, where the Israelites are commanded to remember their deliverance from Egypt each year. Similarly, the Feast of Weeks (Shavuot) and the Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot) are annual observances that commemorate God's provision and guidance. These commemorative practices highlight a biblical principle of remembering significant moments in the life of faith. In Psalm 77:11, the psalmist expresses the importance of recalling the deeds of the Lord: "I will remember the works of the LORD; surely I will remember your wonders of old." While the Bible does not specifically celebrate anniversaries in the way contemporary culture does, it does promote the idea of remembering and celebrating God's faithfulness over time, which can be seen as a spiritual parallel to modern anniversary celebrations.
