Eduth] A contestation: wherein the Psalmist earnestly intreateth God for freedom out of those miseries, which by his desertion had befaln him.
of Asaph] Or, for Asaph.
LEadest Joseph like a flock] Psalms 77:20. and Psalms 78:52.
shine forth] Psalms 50:2. and Psalms 94:1.
Psalms 80:2
come and save us] Heb. come for salvation to us.
Psalms 80:3
Turn us] Or, Return us. To wit, out of captivity.
Psalms 80:4
how long wilt thou be angry against the prayer of thy people?] The faithfull fear Gods anger, when they perceive that their prayers are not forthwith heard.
wilt thou be angry] Heb. wilt thou smoke.
Psalms 80:5
Thou feedest them with the bread of tears] 1 Kings 22:27. Psalms 102:9. Isaiah 30:20.
Psalms 80:6
Thou makest us a strife unto our neighbours] Our neighbours have continuall strife, and war against us.
Psalms 80:7
Turn us again] See verse 3.
Psalms 80:8
Thou hast brought a vine out of Egypt] Seeing that of thy mercy thou hast made us a most dear possession to thee, and we thorow our sins are laid open for wilde beasts to devour us, declare again thy love, and finish thy work that thou hast begun, Psalms 44:2.
cast out the heathen] Psalms 44:3.
Psalms 80:10
the goodly cedars] Heb. the cedars of God.
Psalms 80:11
and her branches unto the river] To wit, Euphrates, as Psalms 72:8.

broken down her hedges] Psalms 89:40. Isaiah 5:5.

The boar] Or, That the boar.
The boar out of the wood doth waste it] That is, as well they that hate our religion, as they that hate our persons.
Psalms 80:14
look down from heaven] They gave not place to tentation, knowing, That albeit there were no hope on earth, yet God was able to succour them from heaven, Isaiah 63:15.
Psalms 80:15
that thou madest strong for thy self] So that, without thy leave, no power can prevail against it; and which, as a young bud, thou raisest up again, as out of the burnt ashes.
Psalms 80:16
they perish at the rebuke of thy countec] When thou in thine anger deliverest it over to the sword of the enemies, psal. 39. 11.
Psalms 80:19
Turn us again, O Lord God of hosts, cause thy face to shine upon us, &c.] See v. 3.
