Third Lesson On Miracles THIRD YEAR—SUBJECT 44 Third Lesson on Miracles

(READ John 11)

”We are now nearing the end of the life of Jesus upon earth. For almost ’two years we have noted the miracles performed; and notwithstanding all of them were performed without charge, but to benefit the persons upon whom they were performed, we find much complaint against the Son of God by religious people and by those whom he condemned for their evil practices, on account of the good things he did. This should cause us to remember that men are often condemned by the world; for no one can do the will of God and at the same time meet the approval of the world. The twenty-fifth recorded miracle of Jesus is curing a child near Mount Hermon.

Then we find Peter catching a fish with money in its mouth to pay the tax of the Son of God. Then we see him giving sight to two blind men, raising his friend, Lazarus, after he had been dead four days, healing the infirm woman, curing the dropsy, healing ten lepers, giving sight to blind Barti- maeus, cursing the fig tree, restoring the ear of Malchus that Peter cut off when they came to arrest Jesus, and catching the great load of fishes after his resurrection. This closes the miracles performed by Jesus while on earth. It is grand to contemplate such a life, and should give all a desire to be with Jesus.
