Ezekiel 6:9
Ezekiel 6:9 in Multiple Translations
Then in the nations to which they have been carried captive, your survivors will remember Me—how I have been grieved by their adulterous hearts that turned away from Me, and by their eyes that lusted after idols. So they will loathe themselves for the evil they have done and for all their abominations.
And they that escape of you shall remember me among the nations whither they shall be carried captives, because I am broken with their whorish heart, which hath departed from me, and with their eyes, which go a whoring after their idols: and they shall lothe themselves for the evils which they have committed in all their abominations.
And those of you that escape shall remember me among the nations whither they shall be carried captive, how that I have been broken with their lewd heart, which hath departed from me, and with their eyes, which play the harlot after their idols: and they shall loathe themselves in their own sight for the evils which they have committed in all their abominations.
And those of you who are kept safe will have me in mind among the nations where they have been taken away as prisoners, how I sent punishment on their hearts which were untrue to me, and on their eyes which were turned to their false gods: and they will be full of hate for themselves because of the evil things which they have done in all their disgusting ways.
Once they are there as prisoners in the nations, then the survivors will remember me. They will realize how sad they made me by their spiritual adultery as they deserted me with their eyes full of lust as they worshiped idols. They will hate themselves for the evil things they did, for all their disgusting sins.
And they that escape of you, shall remember me among the nations, where they shalbe in captiuitie, because I am grieued for their whorish hearts, which haue departed from mee, and for their eyes, which haue gone a whoring after their idoles, and they shalbe displeased in them selues for the euils, which they haue committed in all their abominations.
And remembered Me have your escaped among nations, Whither they have been taken captive, Because I have been broken with their heart that is going a-whoring, That hath turned aside from off Me, And with their eyes they are going a-whoring after their idols, And they have been loathsome in their own faces, For the evils that they have done — all their abominations.
Those of you that escape will remember me among the nations where they are carried captive, how I have been broken with their lewd heart, which has departed from me, and with their eyes, which play the prostitute after their idols. Then they will loathe themselves in their own sight for the evils which they have committed in all their abominations.
And they that escape of you shall remember me among the nations whither they shall be carried captives, because I am broken with their apostate heart, which hath departed from me, and with their eyes which go astray after their idols: and they shall lothe themselves for the evils which they have committed in all their abominations.
And they that are saved of you shall remember me amongst the nations to which they are carried captives: because I have broken their heart that was faithless, and revolted from me: and their eyes that went a fornicating after their idols: and they shall be displeased with themselves because of the evils which they have committed in all their abominations.
When that happens, in those nations to which they have been forced to go, those who have escaped from being killed will think about me. They will remember that I was very grieved because of their turning away from me [IDM] with their inner beings, and because they very much desired [IDM] to worship their idols. They will ◄hate/be very displeased with► themselves because of the evil and detestable things that they have done.

9Then in the nations to which they have been carried captive, your survivors will remember Me—how I have been grieved by their adulterous hearts that turned away from Me, and by their eyes that lusted after idols. So they will loathe themselves for the evil they have done and for all their abominations.
10And they will know that I am the LORD; I did not declare in vain that I would bring this calamity upon them. 11This is what the Lord GOD says: Clap your hands, stomp your feet, and cry out “Alas!” because of all the wicked abominations of the house of Israel, who will fall by sword and famine and plague.Cross References

Ezekiel 6:9 Summary
[Ezekiel 6:9 tells us that even when God's people are far away from Him, physically and spiritually, He is still grieved by their sinful actions and desires for them to return to Him. This verse reminds us that our actions have consequences, but God's love and desire for relationship with us is always present, as seen in Jeremiah 31:3. As we reflect on this verse, we can ask ourselves what ways we have turned away from God and how we can return to Him. By acknowledging our sins and turning back to God, we can experience His love and restoration, as described in Ezekiel 36:26 and Romans 8:1.]
Frequently Asked Questions
What does it mean for God to be grieved by the people's actions?
God is grieved when His people turn away from Him and engage in sinful behaviors, as seen in Ezekiel 6:9, because He loves them and desires a close relationship with them, as stated in Deuteronomy 6:5 and Hosea 11:8.
Why does God allow His people to be carried captive by other nations?
God allows His people to be carried captive as a form of discipline and judgment for their sins, as seen in Ezekiel 6:9 and Leviticus 26:33, in order to bring them back to Himself and restore their relationship.
What is the significance of the people remembering God in the nations where they are captive?
The people remembering God in the nations where they are captive, as stated in Ezekiel 6:9, indicates a turning point in their relationship with Him, where they acknowledge their sins and turn back to God, similar to what is described in 1 Kings 8:47-48 and Lamentations 5:21.
How does God's judgment on His people relate to His love for them?
God's judgment on His people, as seen in Ezekiel 6:9, is actually an expression of His love for them, as He desires to refine and purify them, as stated in Proverbs 3:12 and Hebrews 12:6, and to bring them back to a close relationship with Himself.
