Psalms 119

1 Blessed [truly happy, fortunate] are those whose way [path, journey, manner of life] is blameless [unblemished, perfect, without defect], who walk [follow, obey, live according to] in the Law [instruction, teachings, commandments] of the LORD [Yehovah, the supreme God]. word study 2 Blessed [happy, truly fortunate] are those who keep His testimonies [divine laws, commandments] and seek [search after, request] Him with all [their entire, whole] their heart [inner being, soul, mind]. word study 3 They do [no evil, nothing wrong] no iniquity [unrighteousness, moral evil]; they walk [go, behave] in His ways [path, manner of life]. word study 4 You [the Lord] have ordained [commanded, given orders] Your precepts [instructions, divine laws], that we should keep [obey, guard] them [with care] diligently [very carefully, with great attention]. word study 5 Oh [O that, I wish], that my ways [path, journey, manner of life] were committed [established, directed] to keeping [obeying, guarding] Your statutes [decrees, laws, divine commands]! word study 6 Then [at that time, in the past] I would not [never, under no circumstances] be ashamed [disgraced, put to shame, feel guilt or disappointment] when I consider [look, regard, have respect for] all [every, the entirety of] Your [belonging to You, God’s] commandments [laws, teachings, divine instructions]. word study 7 I will praise [give thanks, confess] You with an upright [morally straight, fair] heart [innermost being, mind and emotions] when I learn [am taught, guided] Your righteous [just, fair] judgments [decisions, justice]. word study 8 I will keep [observe, obey] Your statutes [decrees, laws]; do not [oh, please] utterly [completely, as far as possible] forsake [abandon, leave] me [give me not up]. word study 9 How [in what way, by what means] can a young man [youth, from infancy to adolescence] keep [guard, protect, obey] his way [path, journey, course of life] pure [clean, free from sin]? By guarding [taking heed, watching over] it according to Your word [divine instruction, command, promise]. word study 10 With all [my entire being, everything] my heart [inner self, feelings, will, and intellect] I have sought [searched for, worshiped, asked] You; do not [let it not be] let me stray [wander, err, go astray] from Your commandments [laws, teachings, guidelines]. word study 11 I have [laid up, stored] hidden Your word [promise, saying] in my [innermost, spiritual] heart that I might not [miss the mark, go wrong] sin against You. word study 12 Blessed [praised, honored] are You, O LORD [Yehovah, The covenant Name of God]; teach [guide, instruct] me Your [given to me, belonging to me] statutes [decrees, laws, divine commands]. word study 13 With my lips [language, or edge of expression] I proclaim [repeat out loud, declare, or recount] all [everything, the whole] the judgments [justice, ordinances, or regulations] of Your [Thy, belonging to You] mouth [lip, edge, or border]. word study 14 I rejoice [have taken delight, feel joyful] in the way [road or path, manner of life] of Your testimonies [laws or instructions, witness to Your character] as much as [to the same extent, equally] in all [every, the entirety of] riches [wealth, substance, valuable possessions]. word study 15 I will meditate [think deeply, ponder] on Your precepts [commands, divine laws] and regard [look carefully, show respect to] Your ways [paths, journey of life]. word study 16 I will delight [take pleasure, find joy] in Your statutes [ordinances, divine decrees]; I will not [never, under no circumstances] forget [be oblivious to, mislay] Your word [thing, matter, affair]. word study 17 Deal bountifully [be kind to, do good to] with Your servant [one who serves, a slave], that I may live [have life, be revived] and keep [obey, watch over] Your word [thing, matter, divine message]. word study 18 Open [uncover, reveal] my eyes [the source of understanding, spiritual perception] that I may see [behold, gaze upon] wondrous things [miraculous, awe-inspiring works] from [out of, based on] Your law [instruction, divine guidance, Torah]. word study 19 I [a sojourner, temporary resident] am a stranger [living in a foreign land] on the earth [the land, the material world]; teach [guide, instruct] me Your statutes [decrees, laws, divine rules]. word study 27 Make clear [help me understand, cause me to comprehend] to me the way [path, road, manner of life] of Your precepts [commands, laws, divine instructions]; then I will meditate [think deeply, ponder, talk about] on Your wonders [miraculous works, amazing deeds, things that inspire awe]. word study 28 My soul [the essence of a person] melts [to drip, weeping] with sorrow [grief, heaviness]; strengthen me [establish, raise me up] according to Your word [thing, matter, promise]. word study 29 Remove me from the path [way of life, manner of action] of deceit [falsehood, betrayal] and graciously [with kindness, in mercy] grant me Your law [instruction, guiding principles]. word study 30 I have chosen [selected, decided to follow] the way [path, journey] of truth [faithfulness, loyalty]; I have set [laid, placed] Your ordinances [judgments, decrees] before me [in my sight, as my guide]. word study 31 I cling [to closely follow, adhere to] to Your testimonies [instructions, divine laws], O LORD [Yehovah, The covenant Name of God]; let me not [under no circumstances] be put to shame [be disgraced, experience guilt]. word study 32 I run [eagerly, with enthusiasm] in the path [way, journey] of Your commandments [laws, divine instructions], for You will enlarge [expand, broaden] my heart [inner being, mind]. word study 33 Teach me [show me, guide me], O LORD [Yehovah, the Lord God], the way [path, journey] of Your statutes [decrees, laws], and I will keep [watch, guard] them to the end [consequence, result]. word study 34 Give me [cause me to have, help me to understand] understanding [insight, discernment] that I may obey [keep, watch over] Your law [instruction, Torah], and follow [observe, keep with diligence] it with all [everything, my whole being] my heart [inner self, feelings, will, and intellect]. word study 35 Direct [lead, guide] me in the path [road, way] of Your commandments [laws, teachings], for [because, since] there [in them, within] I find [experience, take pleasure in] delight [joy, happiness, having a desire to follow]. word study 36 Turn [incline, stretch] my heart [feelings, will, and intellect] to Your testimonies [witness, instructions, and laws] and not [to the contrary] to covetous [unjust, selfish] gain [unlawful profit, dishonest acquisition]. word study 37 Turn my eyes [from beholding vanity] away from worthless things [vanity, emptiness]; revive me [quicken thou me, give me life] with Your word [in Your way, according to Your will]. word study 38 Establish [fulfill, confirm, give effect to] Your word [promise, saying, divine Expression] to Your servant [slave, one who serves, devoted one], to produce [result in, bring about] reverence [fear, respect, awe] for You [in the heart of the one who serves, with the purpose of worship]. word study 39 Turn away [remove, take away] the disgrace [reproach, shame, rebuke] I dread [fear, am afraid of], for [because, since] Your judgments [ordinances, decisions, justice] are [truly, indeed] good [pleasant, beneficial, righteous]. word study 40 How [with great intensity, deeply] I long for [yearn after, have a strong desire for] Your precepts [commands, divine instructions]! Revive me [quicken, give me life] in Your righteousness [justice, moral integrity, holiness]. word study 41 May Your loving devotion [mercies, kindness, lovingkindnesses] come to me, O LORD [Yehovah, the Lord God], Your salvation [deliverance, rescue], according to Your promise [word, saying, as You have said]. word study 42 Then I can answer [reply, make a response] him who taunts [reproaches, mocks], for I trust [have faith, confidence] in Your word [promise, divine declaration, Chronicles of Your deeds]. word study 43 Never [under no circumstances] take Your word [divine message, declaration] of truth [faithfulness, stability] from my mouth [lips, speech], for I hope [wait, trust] in Your judgments [just decrees, ordinances, regulations]. word study 44 I will always [continually, constantly] obey [keep, observe, follow] Your law [instruction, teachings, commandments], forever [to the age, perpetually] and ever [eternally, without end]. word study 45 And I will walk [in a broad and spacious way, at liberty] in freedom [without restraint, in a wide place], for I have sought [diligently inquired, asked for] Your precepts [commands, divine instructions, laws]. word study 46 I will speak [declare openly, proclaim] of Your testimonies [divine laws, witness to Your character] before [in the presence of, facing] kings [royal rulers, those in authority], and I will not [under no circumstances] be ashamed [put to shame, disappointed, embarrassed]. word study 47 I delight [take pleasure, find joy] in Your commandments [laws, divine instructions] because I love [have affection, cherish] them [which I have loved, that are dear to me]. word study 48 I lift up [stretch out, reach for] my hands to Your commandments [laws, divine instructions], which [that] I love [have affection for, cherish], and I meditate [think deeply, ponder] on [in, with] Your statutes [decrees, ordinances]. word study 49 Remember [to recall, bring to mind] Your word [promise, divine utterance] to Your servant [slave, one who serves], upon which [on the basis of, because of] You have given me hope [caused me to trust, confident expectation]. word study 50 This [specifically, the fact that you care] is my comfort [consolation, solace] in affliction [trouble, misery, hardship], that Your promise [word, saying] has given me life [revived me, quickened me, to live]. word study 51 The [proud, arrogant] arrogant utterly [greatly] deride me, but I do not turn [swerve, decline] from Your [instruction, law] law. word study 52 I remember [recall, mark in my mind] Your judgments [justice, ordinances] of old [from times past, forever], O LORD [Yehovah], and in them I find [have, experience] comfort [pity, sympathy, reassurance]. word study 53 Rage [hot indignation, scorching heat] has taken hold [seized, grasped] of me because of the wicked [morally wrong, guilty of sin] who reject [forsake, abandon] Your law [instruction, divine guidance]. word study 54 Your [divine, heavenly] statutes [decrees, laws] are songs [psalms, melodies] to me [my heart, my soul] in the house [dwelling place, temple] of my [temporary, earthly] pilgrimage [sojourning, journey]. word study 55 In the [darkest, most trying] night, O [Yehovah, the Lord of covenant] LORD, I [carefully, thoughtfully] remember [to recall, to mark] Your [hallowed, revered] name, that I may [diligently, faithfully] keep [obey, watch over] Your [divine, guiding] law [instruction, Torah]. word study 56 This [what I have always done, my practice] is my practice, for [because, since] I obey [keep, watch over, guard] Your precepts [commands, statutes, divine principles]. word study 57 The LORD [Yehovah, my heavenly Father] is my portion [inheritance, smoothness]; therefore [so, thus] I hate [intensely dislike, reject] every [all, each] false [deceptive, untrue] way [path, journey]. word study 105 Your word [a divine message, instruction] is a lamp [a guiding light, shining brightly] to my feet [the path I walk, my steps] and a light [enlightenment, spiritual illumination] to my path [the way I should go, my journey]. word study 106 I have sworn [made a promise, vowed] and confirmed [stood firm, risen to keep] that I will keep [obey, protect, attend to] Your righteous [just, fair] judgments [ordinances, regulations]. word study 107 I am severely [very much, exceedingly] afflicted [oppressed, humbled], O LORD [Yehovah, The covenant Name of God];
