Repentance Call

1 sermons

Repentance is a fundamental theme throughout Scripture, calling sinners to turn away from their transgressions and seek reconciliation with God. In Acts 3:19, Peter exhorts the people, saying, 'Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.' This call to repentance is not merely an emotional response but a profound transformation of heart and mind, as emphasized in Romans 12:2, where Paul urges believers to 'not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.' Jesus Himself exemplified this call, teaching in Luke 13:3, 'Unless you repent, you too will all perish.' The necessity of repentance is underscored by the parable of the prodigal son in Luke 15:17-24, illustrating God's readiness to forgive and embrace those who turn back to Him. Furthermore, 2 Corinthians 7:10 highlights the distinction between worldly sorrow and godly sorrow, stating that 'godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret.' Thus, repentance is not only a response to sin but a vital step toward experiencing the fullness of God's grace and mercy.
