Radical Depravity

10 sermons

The concept of Radical Depravity, also known as Total Depravity, is a fundamental doctrine in Christian theology that asserts the inherent corruption of human nature due to sin. According to the Bible, humanity's rebellion against God has resulted in a profound spiritual decay, as evident in Romans 3:23, which states that "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." This notion is further supported by Psalms 51:5, which acknowledges that humans are born with a sinful inclination, and Jeremiah 17:9, which describes the human heart as "deceitful above all things and desperately wicked." As a result, humanity is utterly dependent on God's grace for salvation, as emphasized in Ephesians 2:8-9, highlighting the radical nature of human depravity and the necessity of divine redemption.
