Inward Holiness

1 sermons

Inward holiness is a profound biblical concept that emphasizes the transformation of the heart and mind through the work of the Holy Spirit. As Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, behold, the new has come." This new identity in Christ calls for a life that reflects His character, which is further articulated in Galatians 5:22-23, where the fruits of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, and more—serve as evidence of this inward change. Jesus underscores the importance of purity of heart in Matthew 5:8, stating, "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God." Such purity is not merely external adherence to the law but a deep-seated transformation that affects our thoughts, motivations, and actions. The call to inward holiness is a call to align our lives with God's will, as articulated in Romans 12:1-2, where believers are urged to present their bodies as living sacrifices, holy and acceptable to God. Ultimately, inward holiness leads to a life that bears witness to the grace of God, as seen in the testimony of the fruits that manifest in the lives of those who are truly transformed by His love.
