Christian Citizenship

10 sermons

Christian citizenship is a biblical concept that encompasses the responsibilities and privileges of believers as citizens of both earthly and heavenly kingdoms. As followers of Christ, Christians are called to submit to governing authorities (Romans 13:1) and to honor the emperor or king (1 Peter 2:17), while also recognizing that their ultimate allegiance is to God's kingdom (John 18:36). This dual citizenship is rooted in the biblical teaching that believers are strangers and aliens in the world (1 Peter 2:11), yet are also called to be salt and light in their communities (Matthew 5:13-14), guiding their engagement with the world around them. By living out their faith in this way, Christians can fulfill their civic duties while also proclaiming the gospel and advancing God's kingdom on earth.
