Cherishing Christ

Cherishing Christ in the Bible refers to a deep, affectionate, and reverential regard for Jesus as Lord and Savior. This concept encompasses both an emotional and spiritual commitment, reflecting the believer's love and devotion towards Christ. In Ephesians 5:29, the Apostle Paul uses the analogy of how a husband cherishes his own body to illustrate how Christ cherishes the Church, emphasizing that this love is nurturing and protective. Similarly, in John 15:9-10, Jesus encourages His followers to abide in His love, indicating that cherishing Him involves obedience to His commandments, which leads to a profound relational intimacy. Moreover, cherishing Christ can also imply valuing Him above all earthly treasures. In Matthew 13:44, the Kingdom of Heaven is likened to a treasure hidden in a field, which a man joyfully sells all he has to possess. This parable illustrates the idea that true value is found in Christ and His teachings, prompting believers to prioritize their relationship with Him above all else. Ultimately, cherishing Christ means recognizing His worth, allowing His presence to shape one’s life, and embodying His love and teachings in daily actions.
