Sermon Summary
Phil Beach Jr. emphasizes the unparalleled significance of the blood of Jesus Christ in the Christian faith, asserting that it is the only means by which humanity can be reconciled to God. He explains that the blood shed on Calvary serves as the propitiation for our sins, providing redemption and access to God's presence. Beach highlights that this blood is not ordinary but the precious blood of God Himself, which cleanses, justifies, and brings peace to believers. He encourages the congregation to understand the transformative power of the blood and to apply it in their lives for spiritual victory and closeness to God.
Sermon Transcription
Absolutely unique and distinct from every other faith that is in the world today. Not only does it make it uniquely distinct and different from any other faith, but this subject that we're going to be discussing tonight is the very element within the Christian faith that makes it valid before God. May I suggest tonight very boldly with a true and honest heart before God that there is no other faith, no other religion in the world that has the ability and the power to bring a person to God. Except that faith that comes through Jesus Christ. So, I want to encourage you if you do have your Bibles tonight to go through the Scriptures as we mention them. And I certainly do not want this just to be a teaching, but I'm asking God to quicken and make real these truths within our spirits tonight so that the reality and the life of these things can be imparted to us through the power of the Holy Spirit. I want to begin by mentioning that the blood of Jesus Christ that was shed on Calvary, the actual blood on Jesus Christ that was shed on Calvary is the subject that we're going to be discussing tonight. And we're going to look at it and exactly see what the Scriptures say regarding the blood of Jesus and how it is through the blood of Jesus that you and I gain entrance into the Kingdom of God. First of all, we're going to look at the blood of Jesus as it was shed on Calvary. Now, when we speak of the blood of Jesus as it was shed on Calvary, what we're referring to is at that actual time when Jesus Christ was walking on this earth and they crucified Him and they took a spear and they stuck it in His side and out of His side poured water and blood. That's the blood that we're referring to. That blood was distinct and different from any other blood that was ever in a human being because it was the blood of the Son of God. You see, Jesus didn't have a natural father, but Jesus' father was God Himself. The Bible says that Mary was found with child, but the father of that child was not Joseph. It was the very God Himself. She was conceived by the Holy Spirit. It was a miracle. And that immediately set Jesus apart from any other human being that was ever born of a woman. So that blood that was in the veins of Jesus Christ was not mere human blood, but it was the incorruptible, precious, priceless blood of God Himself. And that was the blood that was shed on Calvary. And that's the blood that we're going to be talking about tonight. So it's not just some mere blood that's in a human being, but we're talking about the very blood of God Himself that was in the very body of Jesus. Listen, that was and is the only way for you and I to gain entrance into the Kingdom of God. Now, we're going to be looking into Romans 3, verse number 25. And we're looking at, first of all, the blood of Jesus that was shed on Calvary was the propitiation for our sins. Now, that sounds like a big word, but all it means is that the blood of Jesus was the atoning sacrifice for our sins. Romans 3, verse number 25. Let's begin in verse number 21. But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets, even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe. For there is no difference. For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in His blood. God made Jesus to be the atoning sacrifice for your sins and for my sins, and that's what the word propitiation means. To declare His righteousness for the remission of sins that are past through the forbearance of God. To declare, I say at this time, His righteousness that He might be just and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus Christ. We also find in 1 John chapter 2, 1 John chapter 2, that the Apostle John makes the same statement here. 1 John chapter 2 beginning in verse 1 and reading through to verse number 2. My little children, these things write I unto you that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. Now listen to this. And He is the propitiation for our sins. And not only our sins, but also for the sins of the whole world. Oh beloved, that rings good news in my soul tonight. That the blood of Jesus Christ has become the atoning sacrifice for my sins. Not only for my sins, but for the sins of the world. So that's the first beautiful, beautiful fact about the blood of Jesus Christ. Now listen, these are not just mere ideas. These are not just mere possibilities. These are facts that are forever settled in heaven. The blood of Jesus Christ is the atoning sacrifice for each and every single person that believes and trusts in Him and is born again. That's good news. That means all of your sins and all of my sins that have the potential to send me right to hell because the Bible says the wages of sin is death. But the free gift of God through Jesus Christ is eternal life. So Jesus becoming the atoning sacrifice for our sins means that God has removed the sins and the offenses in my life that stood against me, preventing me from knowing God. God has removed them through the shedding of His dear Son's blood, the Lord Jesus Christ. Isn't that good news? Secondly, in 1 Peter 1, verse number 19. 1 Peter 1, verse number 19. Beginning in verse number 18. For as much as you know that you were not redeemed with corruptible things as silver and gold from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. So we find not only was the blood of Jesus the propitiation for our sins, but we find also that it was the very redemption that was provided for us. The blood of Jesus is what redeemed us. Now the word redeem is an interesting word. And basically what it means is to buy back. It's to buy something back. You see, friends, God created you in the beginning and He created you for Himself. Your body, your soul, and your spirit, and your mind was originally intended to be filled with God's presence and filled with God's love. But because of Adam and Eve, and because of the sin, we were sold to sin. We became slaves to sin. And it was no longer God that we were loving and worshiping, but we became slaves and servants to ourselves and to the devil and to the world. But the blood of Jesus Christ has brought us back. It redeemed us. It delivered us from the hold of darkness and sin and enabled us to come back to our God and our Creator. We find this also in Ephesians 1, verse number 17. Ephesians 1, verse number... I'm sorry, verse number 7. Ephesians 1, verse number 7. In whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins according to the riches of His grace. When God looks at the blood of Jesus Christ and sees you trusting in it, God cancels your sins because it's the buyback price. Aren't you glad that Jesus shed His blood? Acts 20, 28. This is another Scripture that shows us the high cost that God paid to redeem us. Acts 20, verse number 28. Here's what Paul says. Take heed therefore unto yourselves and to all the flock over the which the Holy Ghost has made you overseers to feed the church of God, listen, which He purchased with His own blood. Now let's face it. Let's bring it right down. You purchase cars with money, don't you? It takes a certain amount of money to buy a car. It takes a certain amount of money to place a mortgage down upon a house, a down payment. It takes a little bit of money to buy groceries. Well, what did it cost to buy your salvation? Let me tell you something. It didn't cost you anything. But it cost Jesus everything. It cost Him His very life. Listen, He purchased your salvation through His blood. So what's the purchase price for your salvation and my salvation? The blood of Jesus Christ. How precious the blood is. Colossians 1, verse number 20. Colossians 1, verse number 20. Not only has Christ's blood become our propitiation, our redemption and the purchase price, but according to Colossians 1, verse 20, and having made peace through the blood of His cross by Him to reconcile all things unto Himself, by Him, I say, whether they be things in earth or things in heaven, and you that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath He reconciled. The blood of Jesus Christ is the basis of peace in your life and my life. Let me tell you, beloved, you'll never find peace, as we were speaking before, you'll never find peace outside of the blood of Jesus Christ. It is the basis for peace. Now ask yourself this question. Everybody you know, they're looking for peace. Isn't it true? Come on, be honest. You're looking for peace. You need peace of mind. You're tired of torment. You're tired of hurt. You're tired of being misunderstood. You're tired of that inner deep groaning. What do you do? Look to the blood of Jesus. By it, we have peace. Oh, such peace. The world can't give it, and the world can't take it away. So the blood of Jesus that was shed becomes our propitiation, our redemption, the purchase price for our sins, the basis of peace. And lastly, Romans chapter 5, verse number 9. Romans chapter 5, verse number 9. Beginning in verse 8. But God commanded His love toward us, and that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more than being now, listen, justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. Lastly, we find that the blood of Jesus Christ provides the justification that we so need. The word justification there is a word that suggests that when God sees a sinner pleading for the blood, asking God to wash him by the blood, God will look at that sinner, and because of the blood, will look at that sinner as completely, 100% innocent and forgiven. Not because of what you did, but because of what Jesus did by dying on the cross. 100% forgiven through the blood of Jesus Christ. Now listen. These heavenly, wonderful truths should be prayed through by every believer so that God can write these upon our heart, so that they can become facts within us that we know, that we understand, and that we believe. The blood of Jesus Christ and what it has done since it was shed on Calvary's tree. Next, we find the blood of Jesus not only does all of these wonderful things, but the blood of Jesus Christ, listen, brings us into the very holy presence of God Himself. The blood of Jesus brings us into the presence of God Himself. Hebrews 9. Now friends, we're on a road now, and the road is paved with the blood, and it's the paved road of the blood of Jesus that we're walking on. And this is where we're heading. How many remember the story The Wizard of Oz? What was the advice that was given to Dorothy? Follow the yellow brick road. Follow the yellow brick road. All these little elves and munchkins just come running out of nowhere. Follow the yellow brick road. Follow the yellow brick road. What's the yellow brick road going to lead me to? It's going to lead you to the wizard, and he'll be able to give what? Now the lion needed courage, the tin man needed a heart, and the scarecrow, he needed some brains, right? He needed some brains. And Dorothy, she needed to get home. So what was the advice that she had to follow in order to find the wizard? Follow the yellow brick road. Well friends, the Holy Ghost says tonight, follow the blood. Follow the blood of Jesus. Because the blood of Jesus will lead you to perfect forgiveness. And then once you receive perfect forgiveness, the blood of Jesus will lead you right into the very presence of God Himself. Let me say this real quickly. The New Age movement will not lead you to God. The New Age movement will not lead you into the presence of God. The New Age movement will not make you acquainted with God and will not give you peace. But the New Age movement is a lie. It is a lie from the devil. There's only one way that you can know God and understand who He is, and that's through the paved road of the blood of Jesus Christ. So you think about Dorothy. And when those elves came running out saying, follow the yellow brick road. If you ever want to know God and you ever want to have peace with God, and you ever want to continue to know God in a greater way, you follow the blood of Jesus Christ. And let the blood of Jesus Christ be the basis that you call on for everything from God. It's because of the shed blood that we have all of these wonderful promises in God's Word. Don't ever let anyone take the blood of Jesus from you. Hebrews 9, verse 12. We're just going through these quickly. The tape's going to be available. Again, we encourage you, if you want to really pray these things through and get them in your spirit, get the tape and go through it. Study the Scriptures and ask God to write these things upon your heart. Hebrews 9, verse 11. But Christ being come a high priest, a good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building, neither the blood of goats and calves, but by His own blood He entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. There it is, beloved. Hebrews 9, verse 12. Christ entered through His own blood, and by it He entered into the Holy of Holies. Now, check this out. Hebrews 10, verse 19. Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus Christ. Beloved, you and I have entrance into the very presence of God Himself now because of the blood. Now, did you know that if we couldn't call on the blood of Jesus, not any single human being would be able to enter into the presence of God? How many know why? Because our sin hurls us outside of God's presence. You see, God cannot look upon sin. He's a holy God. But because of the blood of Jesus Christ, we have access to the Father. We have access to the Father. Ephesians 2, verse 13. Ephesians 2, verse 13. Beginning in verse 11. Wherefore, remember that ye being in time past, Gentiles in the flesh, who are called uncircumcision by that which is called the circumcision in the flesh made by hands, that at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world. Listen to this now. Verse 13. But now in Christ Jesus ye who were sometimes afar off were made nigh by the blood of Christ. You were made nigh by the blood of Jesus Christ. O Beloved, I don't know of any other place that I would like to be than close to God. And I could never be close to God unless I knew that there was a blood that was shed for me and that cleanses me perfectly. Focus your attention on the blood because by it and through it we have access into the very presence of God. Now, Hebrews 9.18-23. Now remember what I mentioned a few weeks ago, Beloved. When the Holy Spirit begins to move and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit begins to occur, it is for one reason and one reason alone. And that is to make fertile our hearts and minds so that the reception of God's Word is good in us. When the Holy Spirit begins to move, the Word of God becomes a living book, not a dead book, not a dead letter. Paul said, The letter killeth, but the Spirit giveth life. And that is why the Holy Spirit is moving in our midst. He's quickening us. He's making us alive. We must have the quickening, moving Holy Spirit in our midst in order for the Word of God to become active and quick and living and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword. And as the Holy Spirit moves in your life, these things that we are reading will become life to you. They will become life in Jesus. It will revolutionize you. And absolutely set you free. Hebrews 9 Beginning in verse 18. Whereupon neither the first testament was dedicated without blood. For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people, according to the law, he took the blood of calves and of goats with water and scarlet wool and hyssop and sprinkled both the book and all the people, saying, This is the blood of the testament which God hath enjoined unto you. Now I want to invite you to go to verse number 23. It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these, but that the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. For Christ is not entered into the holy place made with hands, which are the figures of the true, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us. And it's through the shedding of Christ's own blood applied to our heart and applied to our minds that causes us to enter in to the very holy presence of God Himself. Now lastly, we want to look at the blood of Jesus in 1 John 1.7. 1 John 1.7 The Bible says in 1 John 1.7, But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. So we have perfect, continuous cleansing from all sins through and in the blood of Jesus Christ. See, the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to reveal, what does John say? To reveal the things of Christ. What are the things of Christ? The beautiful things that He has done for us. The shedding of His blood. The removing of our sins. What's going to be the central theme in the hearts of people who begin to experience a revival and who begin to experience an outpouring of God's Spirit? You know what the central theme becomes? Not crazy visions and dreams and tangents and glorifying of people and flesh and ministries and prophecies and tongues and interpretation, although they can very well happen. But that's not the theme. That's not the centrality of it. When God's people become filled with the Holy Ghost and God starts moving in the midst, the blood of Jesus becomes precious. The exaltation of the person of Jesus Christ becomes preeminent. People start falling in love with Jesus, singing songs about the blood, making melody in their heart, rejoicing in the Lord Jesus Christ. That's what begins to happen. See, God quickens the Word when the Spirit begins to fall. And people begin to get rooted and grounded in the work of God as is recorded in the Bible. That's what I want. Is that what you want? You see? And these things become written upon our hearts. And that's what we want. That's what we need. See, the outpouring of the Holy Spirit doesn't throw us into what one person said, La-La Land. You know, where you just walk around in La-La Land. But listen now, the outpouring of the Holy Spirit will bring you to an incredible love for the Word of God and the incredible work that Jesus Christ has done for you. But listen, it becomes more than intellectual theology. It becomes living reality and experience. And that is what makes the difference. God gets ahold of you, and the Word of God gets ahold of you. And the truth in the Word becomes life in your soul. That's what we're in need of, beloved. That's what the church is in need of today. Such an outpouring of the Holy Ghost so that God's Word becomes a book of life and people get infatuated by it. And the truth in God's Word becomes so living and so real. And the person and work of Jesus Christ will become preeminent in all of our lives. And the person and work of the Holy Spirit will become so precious. Did you know eternal God dwells with you and wants to cause you to be an overcomer in all things? This is what He's doing. This is what He's doing in this hour that we're living in. So the blood of Jesus Christ has recorded not all the Scriptures. I just took a Strong's and found the major themes about the blood of Jesus Christ. This is what the blood of Jesus has done for you and I. I love the blood of Jesus. I thank God for the blood of Jesus. Amen? I thank God for it over and over again because it's by the blood and through the blood that I am justified. I am declared innocent. I am cleansed. And then I am brought nigh to God. And I enjoy fellowship with God. Well, how many want to look into another subject? Are you weary? Are you tired? Can you go for another 15 minutes? 20 minutes? Sure. Because now this is the blood. Now listen, most Christians understand the blood. But there's another subject that very few people understand and this is why there's so much struggle in the Christian life. You know what this is? The cross of Jesus. Did you know that God not only called you to participate in the blood that was shed, but God has called you to participate in the cross? Now most Christians know nothing about the cross. You know what the cross is to the believer? We'll show you. I'm not going to give you my opinion. I'll show you right in the Word. But a general statement to sum it up is the blood to the believer is that precious cost that God paid to take all your sins away so you can stand happy in God and say, I'm forgiven. But the cross to the believer is the place where your old life is crucified and the new life of Jesus begins to come forth. Many believers want to cling to the blood, but they don't want anything to do with the cross. They want a glory in the fact that God forgave them and forgives them. But they don't want anything to do with getting a revelation on the need to take up their cross daily. That just simply means affirm that when Jesus died on the cross, you died with Him. Not just your sins, but your self-life was crucified with Him. And when a believer is brought by revelation of the Holy Spirit not only to enjoy and claim the blood of Christ, but to begin to enjoy and claim the cross of Christ, something begins to happen. The self-life is dealt with. Let me tell you something. The blood of Jesus cleanses you from sin, but doesn't cleanse you from self-life. How many here still have self-life? Oh, what's wrong? Didn't the blood just take it all away? Why not? Because God didn't intend the blood to take the self-life away. Guess what the self-life is destined to? Crucify. Your self-life cannot be cleansed. It's got to be crucified. It can't be cleansed. It's got to be crucified. See, you can't make your self-life holy. You can't try and make it religious. There's only one place for self-life, and that is identifying itself with Christ on the cross. Now listen, just like applying the blood is something that only you can do as the Holy Spirit shows you, likewise, listen, only as you become interested and willing to go on with God will the Holy Spirit begin to come to you and show you how to appropriate by faith the fact that you have been crucified with Christ. Now listen, isn't it a fact that your sins have been forgiven in Christ? It is a fact. Joel said it is. Okay, now listen, now that fact is appropriated when? When you cry out to God and you say, Oh Lord, have mercy on me. Then the fact that your sins are forgiven becomes a subjective reality to you and you suddenly experience the release of your sin. Hallelujah. Yes Lord, your blood does cleanse me. Your blood does make me whole. Thank you Lord. And see, the fact of ever-present cleansing becomes a subjective reality every time you call upon the Lord, right? It's the same thing with the cross life. See, once you are certain that the blood cleanses from sin, then anytime you sin, you confidently come to God and say, Lord, cleanse me. And you experience the cleansing. Because you have become certain that your sins have been forgiven through the blood of Jesus. Now listen, now listen, work with me here. If you, through God's revelation, through the working of the Holy Spirit, can become just as certain that your old life was crucified with Christ, just as you are certain that your sins were forgiven by the blood of Jesus Christ, you can experience the same victory over self-life as you can over the grief of sin. By calling upon the Lord. Listen, to work the cross in your life. Just like you call upon Him to work the blood and it forgives you, learn how to call upon the Lord to work the cross in your life in order to put the self-life where it belongs, on the cross, and in its place, newness of life in Jesus Christ. Now you say, where's the Word? Right here it is. The cross as seen in the Scriptures. You say, well, where did you get this? I got it in the Bible. The Strongs. You just get in the Bible and find all the references that refer to the cross and start praying over them. You pray long enough and all of a sudden you'll go, oh, wow, God wants this stuff to become real in me. Okay, now watch this. The cross, 1 Peter 2. 1 Peter 2. Now listen, every single gift that was given to us in Christ can be studied like we're doing tonight. Listen, we've been studying the old man. How many remember the old man? The new man? We've been studying that for weeks now. Now we're getting into the blood. Now we're getting into the cross. What other subject in the Christian life does the Holy Spirit want us to understand? This is how you study it. You get your Strongs. You find out all the references in the New Testament that refer to that subject and you start praying over them. Start praying. Start saying, now Lord Jesus, what does this mean? Open this up to me. And you know what will happen? He'll do it. It's as simple as that. He'll do it. That's why the Holy Spirit's come to teach us. Oh boy, this is exciting stuff because this will transform people. You know why? Because it's the Word. It's the Word. 1 Peter 2. Verse 24. 1 Peter 2. Verse 24. "...who His own self bear our sins in His own body on the tree, that we being dead to sin should live unto righteousness by whose stripes ye were healed." Number one, the objective fact that the cross of Jesus Christ is the place where sin, the sin bearing, He bore our sins on the cross. The cross became the place where our sins were placed on the body of Jesus Christ. Friends, do you know what that means? That means that your sins were brought to the cross and God remembers them no more. 1 Peter 2. Verse 24. Romans 5. Verse 10. Now remember, this is the objective fact. This happened already. It's not happening. It happened already. Just like your sins have been forgiven already. Romans 5. Verse 10. For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of His Son, much more being reconciled, shall we be saved by His life. The blood of Jesus Christ is the place where God took our sins or the cross of Jesus is the place where God took our sins and on the body of the Lord Jesus Christ He placed them. So the cross becomes the sin bearing place of your sins and my sins. Now listen. Now we're going to be reading some Scriptures that we have to ask God to give us the reality on because this is just as true. Now watch this. Secondly, the cross of Jesus Christ becomes the place, listen, where the old man is crucified. Was crucified. Romans 6. Romans 6. Let's begin in verse 1. What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we that are dead to sin live any longer therein? Know ye not that so many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we are buried with Him by baptism into death that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Now listen to this. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of His death, we shall be also in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. Listen. For he that is dead is freed from sin. Beloved, the Word of God is clear. The Word of God is true. The cross of Jesus Christ represents the place where the believer's old life was crucified. Now listen. Just like the believer must get understanding from God in regarding the absolute assurance that the blood constantly cleanses, likewise, if the believer would spend time on his knees and get the revelation from God's Word that your old life was crucified objectively, it was crucified. You were on the cross with Jesus. It was killed. It's crucified. That's what it says. Now let's go on. Let's go on. Galatians 5, verse 24. Now remember, self-life can't be cleansed or made holy. It can only be crucified. And it was crucified with Christ. Galatians 5, verse 24. They that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. They that are Christ's have crucified. Now listen. This is the believer's identity with Christ on the cross. The believer's identity with Christ on the cross. Galatians 6, verse 24. Nope. That's a wrong reference. That's alright. We'll just skip that reference. Galatians 2, verse 20. Galatians 2, verse 20. Now we've read this Scripture many, many times. Listen to this. I am crucified with Christ. Nevertheless, I live. Yet not I, but Christ lives in me. And the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me. Your old life was crucified with Christ. We have no right to our old life. It's been crucified. When you see this as a fact that has already happened, you will forever forsake the old man and wholly pursue after that new man who according to God has been created in righteousness and true holiness. This isn't something you confess and confess and confess until suddenly it's yours. Beloved, it's a fact. It's a fact that can only be realized as God gives it to us. Galatians 5.24, Galatians 2.20, and Romans 6.6. Galatians 6.13 and 14. For neither they themselves who are circumcised keep the law, but desire to have you circumcised that they may glory in your flesh. But God forbid that I should glory except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ by whom the world is crucified to me and I unto the world. Thank you, George. Now, beloved, we just read Scriptures that explain the fact, the objective fact about your old life. Now listen, just like the fact that Jesus' blood cleanses us, just like the fact of that becomes real which enables us to what? Experience daily cleansing because we are certain of the fact. Now just like the cross, the fact is our old life was crucified. As that fact becomes fixed in your heart, listen, it enables you to daily appropriate that and experience a daily putting down of self-life and a daily experiencing of the new life in Christ. That's found in Romans 6. We read a little bit of it before. Romans 6. This is the practical application to the fact of what has occurred in the believer's life. Romans 6, verse 2. How shall we who are dead to sin live any longer therein? Know ye not that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into His death? Therefore we are buried with Him by baptism into death that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, listen, even so we should also walk in newness of life. When God makes real to our heart the fact that we have been crucified with Christ, that enables us on a daily basis to appropriate by faith that finished fact and experience Christ's life in exchange for our old life which is being crucified with Christ. That's also found in Colossians 2, verse 20. Colossians 2, verse 20. Wherefore, if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, rye as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances, taste not, touch not, handle not. You see, Paul says, if ye are dead in Christ, it's a fact, it's finished. Colossians 3, verses 3-5. For ye are dead and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with Him in glory. Listen to this. Therefore, put to death your members which are upon the earth, fornication, uncleanliness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness which is idolatry. Put it to death. How do you put it to death, beloved? Let it be crucified with Christ and experience the newness of life by faith, through faith, and by God's power. Remember, the work of the Holy Spirit is designed to impart to the believer the reality of what occurred the moment he or she believed. The work of the Holy Spirit is to impart to the believer the reality of the cross that occurred the moment you and I believed. You see, beloved, when all of the Scriptures in the New Testament speak about the need for the believer to put on the old man and to put off, put on the new man and put off the old man, it's all things that God is designing us to do through the power of the Holy Ghost as we see the old man has already been crucified. The old man has already been crucified. You're dead, and the life that you live outside of Christ is a dead life. See, it's dead. It's fruitless. It's useless to God. Now, when that becomes a reality to you, in light of that, you will forever let the old man crucified, and you will be caught up with allowing the new man to come forth because the old man is crucified with Christ. Now listen, our conflicts and our troubles in the Christian circle today from fighting, divorce, contentions, problems in relationships, they all revolve around a lack of understanding this glorious truth of the old man and the new man. And this is why I want to encourage you, beloved. If God is stirring in your heart, He's stirring for one reason, not just to bless you emotionally, not just to let you experience the presence of God, but He's stirring you in order to bring you into a conscious reality and experience of the fullness of the redemption that was wrought for you through Jesus Christ. That you can experience the fullness of life in Christ and experience the fullness of death to self on the cross. That's why God is doing it. I know we talked about a lot tonight, but that's all right. God's Word won't return void. And there's still much more that we're going to be discussing, much more that God's going to be giving us utterance to do. There's many more things that God's Word teaches us that are dark to our understanding. But see, that's why God's Spirit's moving. And suddenly, things in the Bible, you're going to say, Wow, I never saw it like that. And it's going to become reality to you. And the devil, his power's going to get weaker and weaker in your life. And the power of Christ is going to get stronger and stronger in your life. So I want to encourage you, get all you can from God. Let Him stir your heart. Let Him fill you with the Spirit. And then get into His Word and let Him make it real to you. Let Him make it real to you. Does anyone have any questions? Like I said, I know we dealt with a lot. We're going to be dealing with much more.
