Context — The Danites Settle in Laish
6And the priest told them, “Go in peace. The LORD is watching over your journey.”
7So the five men departed and came to Laish, where they saw that the people were living securely, like the Sidonians, quiet and unsuspecting. There was nothing lacking in the land and no oppressive ruler. And they were far away from the Sidonians and had no alliance with anyone. 8When the men returned to Zorah and Eshtaol, their brothers asked them, “What did you find?”Cross References

Judges 18:6 Summary
This verse means that the priest is telling the Danites that God is with them and will guide them on their journey. It's like when we pray and ask God to be with us, and He gives us a sense of peace, as seen in Philippians 4:7. The Lord wants us to trust Him and know that He is always watching over us, even when we can't see what's ahead, just like He did for the Israelites in Exodus 13:21-22.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does it mean for the Lord to be watching over someone's journey?
According to Judges 18:6, when the Lord watches over someone's journey, it means He is aware of their path and is guiding them, as seen in Psalm 121:8, which says the Lord will watch over our going out and coming in from this time forth and forevermore.
Is the priest's blessing in this verse a guarantee of success?
The priest's blessing is an expression of God's favor, but it does not guarantee success, as seen in Jeremiah 29:11, where God's plans for us are to prosper us, but our obedience is required for success.
Can anyone receive a blessing like the one given in this verse?
Yes, as believers, we can receive God's blessing and guidance, just like the Israelites in this verse, as seen in Numbers 6:24-26, where God commands the priests to bless the people.
How can we know if the Lord is watching over our journey?
We can know if the Lord is watching over our journey by seeking His guidance through prayer, as seen in Proverbs 3:5-6, and by being sensitive to the Holy Spirit's leading, as seen in Romans 8:14.
Reflection Questions

- How can I seek the Lord's guidance and blessing in my daily life, just like the Danites did in this verse?
- What does it mean for me to 'go in peace' as the priest instructed the Danites, and how can I apply that to my own life?
- In what ways can I be more aware of the Lord's presence and guidance in my life, even when I'm not consciously seeking it?
