Context — One Nation with One King
21you are to tell them that this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘I will take the Israelites out of the nations to which they have gone, and I will gather them from all around and bring them into their own land.
22I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel, and one king will rule over all of them. Then they will no longer be two nations and will never again be divided into two kingdoms. 23They will no longer defile themselves with their idols or detestable images, or with any of their transgressions. I will save them from all their apostasies by which they sinned, and I will cleanse them. Then they will be My people, and I will be their God.Cross References

Ezekiel 37:21 Summary
This verse, Ezekiel 37:21, is a promise from God that He will bring His people, the Israelites, back to their own land after they have been scattered among other nations. This is part of a larger plan to restore and reunite His people, as seen in verses like Jeremiah 31:8 and Isaiah 43:5-6. In simple terms, God is saying that He will gather His people and bring them home, where they will be safe and able to worship Him freely. This promise is not just for the ancient Israelites, but also has spiritual implications for all people who put their trust in God, as seen in Romans 11:25-26.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does it mean for God to 'take the Israelites out of the nations' in Ezekiel 37:21?
This refers to God's promise to regather His people from the various nations where they have been scattered, as also seen in Deuteronomy 30:3 and Isaiah 11:12, and bring them back to their homeland.
Is this verse only talking about the physical return of Israelites to their land, or is there a spiritual aspect as well?
While the physical return is certainly part of the promise, there is also a spiritual component, as God desires to restore His people's relationship with Him, as seen in Ezekiel 37:23 and Jeremiah 31:33.
How does this verse relate to the concept of God's sovereignty over nations?
Ezekiel 37:21 demonstrates God's sovereign power over the nations, as He declares His ability to gather His people from all around and bring them into their own land, highlighting His control over the affairs of nations, as also stated in Daniel 4:17 and Psalm 47:8.
Is this promise still being fulfilled today, or was it only for the ancient Israelites?
While the initial fulfillment of this promise occurred in the return of the Israelites from exile, as seen in Ezra 1:1-4, the broader spiritual implications continue to unfold, as God gathers people from all nations to Himself through Jesus Christ, as stated in John 11:52 and Revelation 7:9.
