Context — The Prophecy of Jahaziel
15And he said, “Listen, all you people of Judah and Jerusalem! Listen, King Jehoshaphat! This is what the LORD says: ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army, for the battle does not belong to you, but to God.
16Tomorrow you are to march down against them. You will see them coming up the Ascent of Ziz, and you will find them at the end of the valley facing the Wilderness of Jeruel. 17You need not fight this battle. Take up your positions, stand firm, and see the salvation of the LORD on your behalf, O Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid or discouraged. Go out and face them tomorrow, for the LORD is with you.’”Cross References

2 Chronicles 20:15 Summary
[This verse reminds us that when we face big problems or challenges, we don't have to be afraid or feel like we can't handle them, because God is the one who is really in control, as seen in 2 Chronicles 20:15. It's like when Moses told the Israelites to 'be strong and courageous' because God was with them, as seen in Deuteronomy 31:6. We can trust that God will take care of us and fight for us, just like He did for the people of Judah. By trusting in God's power and sovereignty, we can find peace and comfort, even in the midst of difficult circumstances, as seen in Psalm 23:4.]
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the main message that the LORD is conveying to the people of Judah and Jerusalem in 2 Chronicles 20:15?
The main message is one of comfort and reassurance, reminding them not to be afraid or discouraged because the battle belongs to God, as seen in 2 Chronicles 20:15, and this theme is also present in Deuteronomy 31:6 and Psalm 23:4.
How does this verse relate to the concept of spiritual warfare?
This verse highlights the spiritual aspect of warfare, where the battle is not just physical but also spiritual, and God is the one who fights on behalf of His people, as seen in Ephesians 6:12 and 2 Chronicles 20:15.
What role does faith play in this verse?
Faith plays a crucial role in 2 Chronicles 20:15, as the people are called to trust in God's power and sovereignty, rather than their own strength, which is a central theme in the Bible, as seen in Hebrews 11:6 and Romans 4:20-21.
How can we apply the principle of 'the battle belongs to God' to our own lives?
We can apply this principle by recognizing that our struggles and challenges are not just our own, but are also spiritual battles that require us to trust in God's power and sovereignty, as seen in 1 Samuel 17:47 and 2 Chronicles 20:15.
