13 Bible Verses on Unhappiness

13 verses

Scripture acknowledges that believers will face difficulties and struggles, but encourages them to cast their anxieties on God, for He cares for them. In times of trouble, Jesus' promise of peace, as recorded in John 14:27, offers comfort and reassurance. The apostle Paul's letters, such as Philippians 4:6 and 13, remind believers to bring their concerns to God in prayer and trust in His strength to overcome them. Additionally, 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 and 1 Peter 5:7 provide guidance on responding to challenges with patience, kindness, and humility, rather than letting them lead to unhappiness.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no account of wrongs. Love takes no pleasure in evil, but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be restrained; where there is knowledge, it will be dismissed.
I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.
For you will forget your misery, recalling it only as waters gone by. Your life will be brighter than noonday; its darkness will be like the morning. You will be secure, because there is hope, and you will look around and lie down in safety.
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will surely help you; I will uphold you with My right hand of righteousness.
The LORD is near to the brokenhearted; He saves the contrite in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him from them all.
Do you not know that you yourselves are God’s temple, and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?
The LORD Himself goes before you; He will be with you. He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid or discouraged.”
Anxiety weighs down the heart of a man, but a good word cheers it up.
The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise as some understand slowness, but is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish but everyone to come to repentance.
