15 Bible Verses on Softening the Heart

15 verses

The process of spiritual transformation often involves a change of heart, where a person's inner being is made more receptive to God's will. According to Ezekiel, this transformation is a divine work, where God gives a new heart and puts a new spirit within, enabling obedience to His commands, as seen in Ezekiel 36:26 and Ezekiel 11:19. The prophet Jeremiah also writes about this transformation, noting the need for a new heart in Jeremiah 24:7, and cautioning against the deceitfulness of the human heart in Jeremiah 17:9. In the New Testament, Jesus' words in John 12:39-40 suggest that some people's hearts can be hardened, but through God's work, hearts can be softened, making way for spiritual renewal and a deeper relationship with Him.
