In the face of persecution and opposition, believers are called to stand firm in their faith, as exemplified by Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in Daniel 3:16-24. The Bible teaches that God is sovereign over all nations, and His people are to trust in Him, not in human strength or military might, as seen in Deuteronomy 20:1 and Joshua 11:20. When faced with seemingly insurmountable challenges, believers are encouraged to recall God's past deliverances and trust in His power, as exhorted in Deuteronomy 7:17-18. Ultimately, all who follow Christ can expect to face persecution, but are assured of God's presence and help, as promised in 2 Timothy 3:12.

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. If the God whom we serve exists, then He is able to deliver us from the blazing fiery furnace and from your hand, O king. But even if He does not, let it be known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden statue you have set up.” At this, Nebuchadnezzar was filled with rage, and the expression on his face changed toward Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. He gave orders to heat the furnace seven times hotter than usual, and he commanded some mighty men of valor in his army to tie up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego and throw them into the blazing fiery furnace. So they were tied up, wearing robes, trousers, turbans, and other clothes, and they were thrown into the blazing fiery furnace. The king’s command was so urgent and the furnace so hot that the fiery flames killed the men who carried up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, firmly bound, fell into the blazing fiery furnace. Suddenly King Nebuchadnezzar jumped up in amazement and asked his advisers, “Did we not throw three men, firmly bound, into the fire?” “Certainly, O king,” they replied.
For it was of the LORD to harden their hearts to engage Israel in battle, so that they would be set apart for destruction and would receive no mercy, being annihilated as the LORD had commanded Moses.

The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers gather together, against the LORD and against His Anointed One:
No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their vindication is from Me,” declares the LORD.
Be sober-minded and alert. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in your faith and in the knowledge that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kinds of suffering.
Can a corrupt throne be Your ally— one devising mischief by decree? They band together against the righteous and condemn the innocent to death.

Then they will deliver you over to be persecuted and killed, and you will be hated by all nations because of My name.

And the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up to prepare the way for the kings of the East.
So keep watch at all times, and pray that you may have the strength to escape all that is about to happen and to stand before the Son of Man.”
