In the face of conflict, believers are called to respond in a manner that honors God. Jesus teaches that when a brother sins against us, we should address the issue directly with them, as seen in Matthew 18:15. The Bible also warns against repaying evil for evil, instead encouraging us to overcome evil with good, as Paul writes in Romans 12:17. Furthermore, our words have the power to either heal or harm, as noted in Matthew 12:36-37, and Proverbs 17:14 cautions against stirring up strife. As Galatians 5:19-24 reminds us, the fleshly desire to fight and quarrel is opposed to the fruit of the Spirit, which includes peace and self-control.

If your brother sins against you, go and confront him privately. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over.

And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Pray in the Spirit at all times, with every kind of prayer and petition. To this end, stay alert with all perseverance in your prayers for all the saints. Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will boldly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it fearlessly, as I should.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
