Scripture warns against overindulgence in food and drink, as it can lead to negative consequences. In Proverbs, wisdom is urged to avoid the company of those who excessively indulge, and to control one's appetite, as indicated in Proverbs 23:20 and 23:2. The apostle Paul teaches that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, and therefore should be treated with respect and care, as expressed in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. Furthermore, Philippians 3:19 cautions that those whose god is their stomach will face destruction, highlighting the importance of moderation and self-control in eating.
