Scripture teaches that wine and other strong drinks can be consumed, but warns against excess. In Proverbs, it is written that wine deceives, and those who drink to excess will suffer the consequences. The apostle Paul advises Timothy to use a little wine for medicinal purposes, as seen in 1 Timothy 5:23, and also instructs deacons to not be heavy drinkers, as stated in 1 Timothy 3:8. Additionally, Ephesians 5:18 cautions against drunkenness, while Galatians 5:21 includes drunkenness as a work of the flesh, highlighting the importance of moderation and self-control in all aspects of life.
