Purposeful Work

1 sermons

Work is not merely a means to an end; it is a divine calling that reflects God's character and purpose in our lives. In Genesis 2:15, we see that God placed Adam in the Garden of Eden to work it and keep it, illustrating that labor is part of the created order and not a result of the Fall. The Apostle Paul emphasizes this notion in Colossians 3:23-24, where he instructs believers to work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, reminding us that our efforts have eternal significance. Furthermore, in Ephesians 2:10, we are told that we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which He prepared beforehand for us to walk in. This affirms that our work is not only purposeful but is also part of God's sovereign plan. Jesus, in Matthew 5:16, encourages us to let our light shine before others through our good works, so that they may glorify our Father in heaven. Thus, purposeful work is an avenue through which we can fulfill our God-given potential, serve others, and bring glory to God, aligning our daily tasks with His divine purposes.
