Jesus As Priest

2 sermons

Jesus Christ is portrayed as the ultimate High Priest, fulfilling the role established in the Old Testament and transcending it through His perfect obedience and sacrificial love. As described in Hebrews 4:14-16, He is our great High Priest who has ascended into heaven, enabling believers to approach the throne of grace with confidence. His priesthood is not based on lineage, as was the case with the Levitical priests, but is according to the order of Melchizedek, as emphasized in Hebrews 5:6. This unique priesthood underscores His eternal and unchanging nature, providing a direct and personal relationship between God and humanity. Jesus intercedes for us, as seen in Romans 8:34, where it is stated that He is at the right hand of God, interceding for us. Furthermore, His sacrifice on the cross, described in Hebrews 9:12, has secured our redemption once and for all, eliminating the need for continual sacrifices and establishing a new covenant. Through His role as priest, Jesus not only mediates but also embodies the perfect sacrifice, making Him the cornerstone of our faith and the assurance of our salvation.
