Internal Struggle

1 sermons

Internal struggle is a profound theme in the Christian experience, reflecting the tension between the flesh and the spirit. Paul articulates this conflict vividly in Romans 7:15-25, where he confesses, "For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate." This inner turmoil is not unique to Paul; it resonates with many believers who grapple with sin and the desire for holiness. In Galatians 5:17, Paul further explains that "the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh," highlighting the ongoing battle within every Christian. Jesus, in His teachings, also acknowledges this struggle, urging His followers to take up their cross daily (Luke 9:23), which symbolizes the daily confrontation with self and sin. The Apostle Peter encourages believers to cast their anxieties on God, for He cares for them (1 Peter 5:7), reminding us that we are not alone in our struggles. Ultimately, the promise of victory is found in Philippians 4:13, where Paul asserts, "I can do all things through him who strengthens me." Understanding internal struggle through a biblical lens not only provides insight into our personal battles but also encourages reliance on God's grace and strength.
