Thou Canst Believe

Nothing is impossible when you put your trust in God. Nothing is impossible while upon this earth you trod. That is because the Apostle Paul declared in Philippians chapter 4 verse 13, I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

We certainly need strong faith to believe that. Also we need solid faith to truly honestly believe Jesus's words to his disciples in John chapter 15 verse 5 when he tells them that for without me ye can do nothing. Without him I could do nothing.

Without him I'd surely fail. Without him I would be drifting like a ship without a sail. I am missionary Richard Yerby in Japan and my sermon today is titled If Thou Can't Believe.

That title is taken from the Gospel of Mark chapter 9 where Jesus said unto the father whose son was possessed by a dumb spirit, a demon, if thou can't believe all things are possible to him that believeth. I continue now in my series of sermons taken from Job chapter 3 verse 26 where this perfect and upright man declared I was not in safety, neither had I rest, neither was I quiet, yet trouble came. That's Job chapter 3 verse 26.

I have finished expounding the first two parts of that declaration. I was not in safety, neither had I rest. I want to now close out my thoughts on not having rest with a following prayer.

Would you pray with me also? Heavenly Father please give me a heart, a mind, and a will, even a fiery burning desire to be like Job when he said neither had I rest. Make me into a believer who delights to serve thee with all my might. Give me a renewed burden and deep sincere compassion for the lost souls around me.

Break my heart over the eternal torments that await them in hell. Help me to intercede much for them. With thy help please enable me to do everything I can to win lost souls to the Savior of the world.

Heavenly Father I know that thou hast a divine plan for my personal life here on earth which includes certain works for me to do for thee. Please give me thy guidance, wisdom, and discernment to know exactly what labors thou hast ordained for me personally. Please show me clearly what I am to do so I will not waste my time and efforts on my own religious vain plans and schemes.

Please give me the physical strength and the wisdom needed to do all the works thou hast ordained for me. Please give me a mind and a will to work long and hard for thee. Save me from being lukewarm and spiritually lazy.

Please help me to truly be able to say with Job neither had I rest. I pray this prayer for all other Christians also. Please come now Lord and work a great and glorious work in all our hearts.

I earnestly pray. Amen. Present-day lukewarm lay out of sin church goers are ever so lazy and unconcerned about claiming many of the wonderful promises that our Lord gives us and thus they don't even make any effort to claim them.

Severe loss will be theirs on Judgment Day. Saved is by fire. That fire is going to be hot.

Please don't you dare be amongst them. For example, just how often and how seriously have you ever meditated upon Jesus's wonderful promise to his disciples in Matthew chapter 18 verse 19. Again I say unto you that if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.

End of that reading. As I prayerfully meditate on the potential of that unconditional promise God the Holy Spirit draws my mind to Jesus's prayer in the garden to the Father as he prayed to the Father regarding the bitter cup he was soon to drink. Reading that in Matthew chapter 26 reading verse 39.

And he went a little father and fell on his face and prayed saying oh my father if it be possible let this cup pass from me. Nevertheless not as I will but as thou will. And a few minutes later in verse 42 he prays the second time.

Oh my father if this cup may not pass away from me except I drink it thy will be done. With each heartfelt petition that I bring to God the Father me personally being ever so desires that I get my will in my way with my own heart's desire I must truly desire first and foremost that God's will be done in that matter not my will. If I can truly desire that then I can freely bring any petition to my God.

I want to now bring petitions to God with that mindset as you listen asking you to please agree with me now as you hear me voice these petitions agree that God's perfect will be done regarding these petitions. Let's pray. Abba Father I come unto thee in the high and holy name of thine only begotten Son the Lord Jesus Christ.

Thanking thee that thy son is not willing that any human soul should perish but that all should come to repentance as is written in 2nd Peter chapter 3 verse 9. Thus I now plead with thee to bring to repentance unto thee the entire extended family of the Japanese lady who was born around early 1971 who in the late summer of 1974 short of four years of age she melted into my outstretched arms that hot afternoon as she stood alone sobbing her heart out at the edge of an orphanages small dirt yard. Please do not let any of her extended family perish. May thy perfect will be done in each of their lives for thy great glory and for their eternal salvation and happiness.

Please think on this my most earnest compassionate plea and please have regard for the many radio listeners right now who are agreeing with me. Amen. Let's pray. Abba Father in heaven I plead for the salvation of the entire extended family of the Japanese man born around 1967 whom I came to know around 1978. He was insanely highly self-motivated to be the top performer in his studies and sports activities.

Overdoing it caused him to crack up mentally when he was in high school. Ceasing to do everything just sitting at home all the time. Please save him to the utmost and heal all his present mental diseases.

From this very time on may he live to bring the pleasure to thee that thou created him to bring to thee. I pray for thy divine will to be done in the lives of all his extended family members. Amen.

Our Father which art in heaven I pray for the salvation of the Japanese man who was the landlord of this rental house when I started renting it in August 1978. He aggressively loved the things of this world getting into financial trouble by madly pursuing them and thus running away from his family and debts deserting them all. Smite him as thou didst smite Saul of Tarsus.

Save him and his wife and son and daughter whom he deserted in the early 1980s. Lord please listen to fellow Christians now agreeing with this plea of mine unto thee. Amen.

Our Father please save all the extended family members of the two junior high school teenage girls who jumped together to their deaths on the fifth-story roof of a parking tower in Saitama Prefecture in 2001. Smite their parents who pushed them so hard in their school activities to cause the girls to take their own lives. Save those parents to the utmost.

Create within each of those two dads and two moms a holy hatred against this devil's world and the things of the world. May those poor parents daily endlessly proclaim to everyone they possibly can their love for thee and their present hatred for the world. Because the parents previously loved the world enough to cause their daughters to take their own lives.

Presently so many young parents are rearing their children in that manner. Smite them and the school teachers who push the students even more cruelly. In the name of thy son Jesus Christ I ask thee to please hear this prayer of mine.

Please regard fellow Christians who are presently agreeing with this desperate compassionate plea of mine. Thank thee Abba Father for being most attentive to us. Amen.

Abba Father likely it was around the year 2000 when the Japanese high school boy brutally murdered his father, mother, and grandmother due to his mother enrolling him in an unbearable deluge of cram school classes. Likely he was born around 1983. Right now with a compassionately broken heart I plead with thee to save him to the utmost eternally and to heal all his mental hurts, sicknesses, and diseases.

Please make him into a servant of thine who will daily proclaim to all souls around him the wonderful saving and recreating power of thine. I plead this in the high and holy name of thy only begotten son Jesus Christ who gave his life on the cross so that this Japanese man can be saved unto eternal blessedness just as I am saved unto eternal blessedness. Amen.

Heavenly Father, my finite mind cannot comprehend how vastly the aggressive medical doctor must have been devastated, that Japanese doctor, when his own son murdered his second wife and her son and set fire to his fine house. I now cry out for mercy on him and on his murdering son. If I can only believe all things are possible with thee, almighty God.

If fellow Christians listening to me right now can only believe all things are possible with thee. Abba Father, please have mercy on all us believers right now regarding our weak faith. Please help out our unbelief.

I plead with thee for the perfect salvation and recreating of both that doctor and his murdering son. Please heal the deep misery of soul that each of them has doubtlessly suffered ever since the day of that double murder. Please make each of them into the most powerful witness for thee that can possibly be witnessing of thy saving power and changing power.

Please hear this, our cry, Abba Father, for their suffering soul's sakes and for the sake of thy only begotten son who gave his life on the cross so that those two deeply hurt souls would not perish. Amen. Brothers and sisters, think on this scripture in Romans 8 26.

Likewise, the spirit also helpeth our infirmities for we know not what we should pray for as we ought but the spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Next verse 27. And he that searcheth the heart knoweth what is the mind of the spirit because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

Please join me now in prayer regarding that glorious scripture. Abba Father, we have brought our petitions unto thee in the name of thy only begotten son the Lord Jesus Christ and for his name's sake we now humbly ask thee to please search our hearts and make intercession for us according to the will of God regarding our petitions. Amen.

Now brothers and sisters, please think on our compassionate Savior as I read of his compassion in Matthew chapter 9 verse 36. But when he saw the multitudes he was moved with compassion on them because they fainted and were scattered abroad as sheep having no shepherd. The devil's world has become crammed full of evil devices and inventions that put unlimited moving and talking pictures before our eyes.

For the eyes of this gullible in time human race who delight to set evil things before their eyes such people are so different from King David who said that he would set no evil thing before his eyes. Some of those moving and talking pictures tell fiction stories while some are newscasts and other such actual true happenings and the vast majority of them portray human suffering and constantly watching such destroys true compassion for suffering souls from those people who feed their eyes and ears on such. It will tend to make us like the certain priest and then the Levite who callously passed by on the other side of the man left half dead by the roadside after being beaten and robbed as told in Luke chapter 10 verses 30 through 37.

Let's cry out to God to keep us filled with compassion for suffering mankind making us like the compassionate good Samaritan who abundantly gave sufficient help to the half dead man essentially restoring him to life. Throughout my life of four score years I have been privileged to attend church services in many different churches in several different nations. Many of the prayers that I have heard prayed aloud in churches are practically void of compassion or any heartfelt groaning or emotion.

Particularly Japanese church services are typically formal and routinely cut filled with worldly language and protocol. When a Japanese man prays aloud in church often it is like pushing the play button on an audio player and the recorded prayer starts. Seldom or never is there any heartfelt groaning of spirit to any extent and week after week in general the approximately same words are routinely said in that formularized prayer.

No genuine compassion cometh forth. Let us all cry out in earnest for God to save us from man's customized religious traditions and to create within us a truly compassionate heart in which arises groanings that cannot be uttered. We also need to loathe and despise our evil sinful heart of unbelief.

Not be the least bit content to continue on in that lukewarm state of weak faith and unbelief and repent of it and beg God to work strong unwavering faith within us. Listen now to Jesus's words in Matthew chapter 21 verses 21 and 22. Verily I say unto you if ye have faith and doubt not ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree but also if you shall say unto this mountain be thou removed be thou cast into the sea it shall be done and all things whatsoever you shall ask in prayer believing you shall receive.

I regularly meditate much on that while begging God for strong faith. I perceive that many present day Christians don't really expect their petitions to be granted when they pray. Seldom are we moved when our prayers are not answered.

Seldom do we get serious crying out where art thou Lord? May we each earnestly call on our Lord to lift us up out of the lukewarm miry clay of sin and unbelief and make us into overcomers with strong faith. Find out like Gideon did where be thy miracles in bygone days and possibly now I know not presently. Our nation instructed its military medics and corpsmen who went into battle with ground soldiers to treat those who became wounded in battle.

They instructed them in this manner if you come upon a severely wounded fatally wounded soldier whom you know of a certain will soon die no matter how diligently you treat him then you just go on and leave him where he is for the purpose of treating another wounded soldier who will survive if you treat him in time. In a way that seems like a callous thing to do but you can see the noble motive of saving a life that is savable as opposed to just being a comfort to the one whose life is flowing out of out from him and beyond help. When giving this instruction to the medic trainee the instructor would that would add these words of precaution.

Whatever you do don't look into the eyes of that fatally wounded combatant because when you look into the eyes of a dying person it is almost impossible to walk off and leave them to die alone. If that medic makes eye contact then likely compassion will compel him to stay there holding the man's hand mopping his brow putting a water canteen to his lips talking to him and such when instead the medic could be treating a nearby wounded soldier whose life he can save if only he will go on to him to save him. I originally arrived in Japan long ago on 3 December 1973 to serve the final 14 and a half months of my required five and a half years of active duty time as an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps.

I was a pilot of the A-4 Skyhawk and the A-6 Intruder jet attack aircraft. Two days before arriving in Japan the Marine Corps had promoted me from first lieutenant to captain on 1 December 1973. I then served at the Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan for 15 months until I was discharged from Marine Corps active duty there at Iwakuni in mid-January 1975 without returning to the states to be discharged stateside which is standard procedure.

I chose to stay here in Japan as a civilian because I had looked into the eyes of this dying race of Buddhist idol worshippers the Japanese race and when I looked into their eyes for that year plus I couldn't leave them. 52 years later I'm still here holding forth the word of life to those who care to take it. In this world there's a part God has laid on my heart where many I know can be won for the savior whose mind it was to save all mankind is the land of the rising sun.

There's a populous race in that wonderful place from where the strong man starts to run and steal millions to win from the darkness of sin in the land of the rising sun to Hokkaido and Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu who'll take up the tidings and run and gladly proclaim the savior's sweet name through the land of the rising sun. We do read from the east they shall come to the feast and so when our service is done we'll rejoice to see these dear redeemed Japanese from the land of the rising sun. Brother or sister in Christ please intercede for the salvation of the many Japanese to whom I preach to out in public intercessory prayer is powerful and so few people would do it.

I plead with God to lay it on your heart time to time my preaching here daily out in public and lead you to call out cry out to him to save many. Thank you for hearing and considering this and God bless you for every bit of your consideration for me. Amen.
