Sermon Transcription
Well, we're back again on Eagle's Wings. I trust you had a good week. I'm trusting that you applied some of the things that we shared last week with you to your life this week. We was talking last week about the blood of the Lamb. Remember, John said, Behold the Lamb of God which takes away the sin of the world. It's like he takes away a heavy burden. You know, Jesus said, Come unto me all of you who are weary and heavy laden. You know, Jesus is all you need. He can take your problem. I know that we have some friends down in the Joplin area that that are going through trials. I know one lady, dear Marie, who's had cancer and been going through the treatments and everything. Would you pray for Marie? Would you pray for her? I haven't heard from from our dear friend Katherine Wilson up in Jasper area for quite a while. The last I heard that she was sick. Would you pray for her? You know, God provided for us several weeks ago my my vehicles have lots of miles on them and and we really roll sometimes and The station wagon needed tires just flat needed tires and I've been praying them in prayed to a month and the back two I think they're okay unless one has a belt that slipped But I was sharing with somebody up in Kansas City a friend a few weeks ago How we got a new tire for $22 and thinking 94 cents Maybe I shared this with you too. And and he said pray for me that God had given me tires my my vehicle has a whole bunch of miles way more miles than they were supposed to have on them and So I said, okay, I'll pray. As a matter of fact if you'd like to pray with me, let's pray that God will provide Tires for that van. Let's just pray now Heavenly Father I thank you for my friends out here that are tuned in to on Eagles wings and and we pray for Marie We pray father that your grace would be sufficient father that you would heal her if it be your will and we pray for dear Catherine up there father. I don't know much about her I haven't heard all I knew is that she was sick and and I don't know father Maybe you might have taken her home with you by now But we just pray for and then I pray for our friends that need tires on the van and maybe you've already provided But God you're interested in us father. You meet needs You provide abundantly you provided a new tire for us for $22 and 94 cents and let me pay the tax and have the mounting to on it But it was miraculous to get a new tire for such a low price and I pray that you provide four tires for For my brother that mentioned for for us to pray for him in this area father I pray that you'd open up our eyes to see Jesus that we would behold the Lamb and Heavenly Father that Jesus would become so precious Father it seemed like in our old dark world that there's so many so many distractions even our churches a lot of our churches are noisy father that we would learn to sit in silence before you and Enjoy you and that we would learn to walk with you day by day and let you direct and everything and let you provide and Father, I pray that you would give a special blessing today to the listeners in Jesus name. Amen well, you know I went to Visit this dear brother up in Sedalia a few weeks ago and they shared in his church on a Wednesday night And you know what really impressed me in that fellowship was how when they started the service they sat in silence before God and they prayed and I thought wow That blessed my heart. It really did. I thought wow so many churches I go into it's just noisy chitter chat and then all of a sudden we stop and we'll have an opening prayer and sing a song and we'll we'll have some announcements we sing another song and and We'll have a statement of this We'll have a special and then we have a sermon and and then we have a closing hymn and closing prayer and blam We're gone. What would it be like if you just started? Sitting before God and Listening and waiting and praying to him and listening to the Spirit and Then when you ended the service they ended the same way When I got done preaching And I preached a long time and they told me to go a long time and I shared my testimony and preached Then they sat in silence. I Said wow God, this is good. We can hear you then after a little bit The people started sharing about what God was speaking to them about they began to share what their burdens were and The pastor wisely would have someone pray for them when they would share their burden It was neat to sit in silence as a congregation. We're too noisy We can't behold the Lamb because we're we're too busy looking at other things Sometimes I don't think we understand How distracted we can be by demons? We don't understand That Jesus wants us to live in a relaxed atmosphere and the whole world can be blown up Around you but yet we should be the most peaceful people on earth It's like several years ago. Somebody commissioned some artists to paint a picture of peace and They had you'd have a sunset scene and you'd have this and that maybe you've heard the story, you know Beautiful scenes of scenery, but the one that won the award the one that was the most Powerful demonstration of peace was the one of a picture of a roaring waterfall with water Thundering down and splashing up tons of water every minute coming down and then right in the midst of that There's a branch out over the waterfall near all this with a little nest with a bird perched there on her nest Just as peaceful as everything Behold the Lamb Amid all your troubles and your turmoils learn to see Jesus Don't go through a day without Jesus. Don't go through a moment without Jesus You know when you get saved God never intended for you to leave his fellowship You know how wonderful if it was how cleansed you felt when the blood was applied to your sins I remember how it was. I didn't even know what had happened All I knew is I'd gone through tremendous struggle for weeks and when I cried out to God He cleansed me the blood was applied and he cleansed me and it felt wonderful I was in fellowship with God. I went outside and the stars look so bright the night was so Clear clear and crisp is because my soul was clear and crisp. I saw the Lamb and I applied the blood and then something happened The devil came away in there and tried to get me away from the Lamb and it's taken me a long time to learn to stay with the Lord Jesus well, I shared with you some things last week about the blood and And I'd like to just continue and share some more things today with you about the blood of the Lamb You don't understand So many of us don't understand how powerful the blood of the Lamb was when Christ died on the cross at Calvary the devil thought that he had Satan if You can imagine him waving or the devil thought that he had Jesus. Excuse me If you can imagine him accusing Jesus as he's there on the cross your disciples forsook you Everybody's against you. You're wrong. You're defeated You're deceived Even God doesn't want you All these lies were coming at him and as he waved all this stuff before Jesus the Lord Jesus is if you can just imagine him looking up and Saying it is finished and in one moment. He sheds his life He dies for our sins and at that moment he destroys all the lies of Satan Because he defeated Satan at that moment. He said it's finished Satan you're through with and My friend when his blood was shed and he died on the cross Satan's power was destroyed your sins the power of sin over you was destroyed and So that's why Romans 6 is there That we're crucified with Christ the old man is dead three times Specifically the old man is dead when you receive Christ the old man dies But the devil comes in and gives us some lies and deceives us and tells us he's not dead If you believe those lies, then you all act upon those are lies Who you gonna believe God or the devil the blood of Jesus Christ is sufficient. It covered it all Every need that you have if you're being Defeated in some area of your life, which sin the blood was sufficient to give you victory. You have to apply the blood Claim the blood ask God to rebuke the devil if he's getting in there The blood was sufficient I want to take you back back in the Old Testament to Leviticus chapter 1 Leviticus chapter 1 Verses 1 through 4 and just share something with you a little bit about the offerings You see all of the offerings the scripture says that I shared with you last week. Remember I shared that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures All of the scriptures were leading up and getting us up to Calvary and we look back to Calvary all Eternity hinges on Calvary for us The blood of Jesus Christ is so vital This is why if you have a version that takes out the blood you better get you another version if you got a song book That takes out the blood songs. You need to get you another song book We are being attacked in such subtle powerful ways today that Satan is destroying the very foundation of many of our churches And we don't know what's going on. We say we can't get the young people to to come to church I hear that all the time or what? Why should a lot of them come to your church when there's nothing there that meets their needs and They don't need to be entertained. They near need to hear the blood preached. They don't need to get all of these these Superstars shipped in from Hollywood to come in and give testimonies. All you need is the Word of God They need a fellowship that's clean and pure without tradition of men defiling it. We need to listen to God We need to behold the Lamb of God now, are you back there at Leviticus I Get to preaching a little bit give you a little time there. Well, let me read you just a few verses Let's just read and notice what God says to us and the Lord called unto Moses and spake unto him out of the tabernacle of the congregation saying Speak unto the children of Israel and say unto them if any man of you bring an offering unto the Lord you shall bring your offering of the cattle even of the herd and of the flock if His offering be a burnt sacrifice of the herd. Let him offer a male without blemish. He shall offer it of his own Voluntary will at the door of the tabernacle the congregation before the Lord and he shall put his hand upon the head of the burnt Offering and it shall be accepted for him to make atonement for him. Remember last week I shared with you when Moses was instructed by God to apply the blood to sacrifice the lamb and apply the blood the Sacrificed lamb didn't do them any good if they just sacrificed the lamb and didn't apply it to the doorpost The death angel would have come in there and killed him It would have killed the firstborn the blood had to be applied and God said when I see the blood I'll pass over and that's why we called called Easter really should be called Passover God will pass over and he will pass over your sins when he sees the blood of Jesus Applied to you notice that the sacrifice was to be without blemish This is why your good works and my good works will not get us to heaven God cannot accept us and save us on the basis of our good works because they're polluted we're really doing it to make ourself look good before God and it's our own pride we're proud that we can do that and The devil's deceived us. We've got a vain imagination We better go back to the book. We better pay attention to what God says Notice that also of his own Voluntary will it's of your own will to receive or reject Jesus and one of the things that's going to make hell so Awful for all eternity is that you're gonna know if you've rejected rejected Jesus Christ that you Refuse to go to heaven you refuse to apply the blood to your to your soul for your sins for all eternity You're gonna know you deserve to be there and you're gonna be angry at yourself for all eternity You're gonna want to die. It's gonna be so painful. You're gonna be burning alive You're gonna want to die and get it over with but you will be dead. That will be death Will it be worth it to take a gamble on all eternity in hell? For you thinking that your good works will get you to heaven the Bible clearly says for by grace So you saved through faith and that's faith in his shed blood It's faith in his shed blood That will get you saved for by grace So you saved through faith and that not of yourselves it is a gift of God and not not of work so that no man can boast There's going to be no boasting in heaven about ourselves all Of our attention will be on the lamb for all eternity now I'm going to share some things with you about the lamb this morning. But listen, he said In verse 4 he shall put his hand upon the head of the burnt offering and it shall be accepted for him to make atonement for him The key word is accepted. Another key word is to be without blemish If you get over to chapter 4 and 5 and Leviticus, I'm not going to get into it there's a word forgiven Leviticus 17 11 if you go on through there, it says for it is the blood That make it an atonement for the soul Your blood is not going to do any good for you for your sins It's the blood that makes an atonement for the soul now listen this in the burnt offerings The acceptableness of the offering passed to the offerer and he was accepted Let me say it again in the burnt offerings that they offered the acceptableness of the offering Passed to the offerer and he was accepted in the sin offerings the sin of the offerer Passed to the offering and he was forgiven. I'll say it again It's a little hard maybe to catch but in the sin offering the sin of the offerer Passed to the offering they had that little lamb there They put their hand on the head and his sin would pass to the lamb Passed to the offering and then he was forgiven and you see when Jesus Christ died on Calvary Our sin was passed unto him. The Bible says he became sin for us He had no sin of his own. He was without blemish. He didn't die to give us an example He died in our place as our substitute It was me that should have died there on the cross But I couldn't die there because I was not without sin and God Accepts me through the sacrifice of his son He accepts you through the sacrifice of his son If you will accept his son and the blood that was shed God will accept you if you will not accept the blood that was shed for you. Then God will not accept you Don't think that there's another way. Jesus said I am the way don't think that there's another gospel He says I am the truth He says I am the way the truth and the life. There's no life other than through the blood of Jesus Christ If you go over to 1st Samuel flip over to 1st Samuel chapter 7 Israel been having one of their flings with the Philistines and they they like to get off and get into trouble they accepted their ways and and They'd lost their ark. You remember the time they lost their ark well, they just got their ark back in 1st Samuel 7 and and they parked the ark and it stayed for 20 years in Kirjath Jerrim in verse 2 of 1st Samuel 7 it says That the time was long For it was 20 years and all the house of Israel lamented after the Lord I don't know why it is that if you've had some kind of problem with somebody in your life You've had an argument or you've had a jealousy. You've had a bitter spirit Anger or whatever why we can go so long Without fellowship with that brother and think that we can have sweet fellowship with Jesus and knowing that there's something wrong between my brother my friend you can't have sweet fellowship with Jesus and that may be why you feel like there's no joy in your life because if You look there's something between your soul and the Savior for 20 years the ark was parked there and finally in verse 3 Samuel spake unto all the house of Israel. He said how long you guys gonna just sit here in Limbo, how long you're gonna be in neutral and actually there's no neutrality in the spiritual life You're either going forward and up or you're going down and backsliding is a biblical term And the Bible says our backs legs will correct us or they'll destroy us So I had that in there, but he said if you do return unto the Lord and verse 3 Samuel said with all your hearts then put away the strange gods and many of you been crying to God But you're not with all your heart because you hadn't been you hadn't been willing to put away Your little toys your little peevishness your little pet ideas your pride or whatever And this is why we need revival in our churches One of the reasons we're not seeing revival in our church because we're not willing to put away our sin We're not willing to repent and come before God in brokenness And I don't see much revival around Some places I go in all they need is one message and then the Spirit of God says keep moving preacher They're not interested in here and God to move me on I'm content to sit and wait Right where I'm at Wait until God says, okay. There's a place that's hungry for revival you go a Lot of these evangelists are running around the country. They're running their wheels off They're they're burning up a lot of God's money on airplane tickets. They go into place They have four days of a show you can't have revival in four days It takes time if it's taking you 40 years to get into the mess you're in it's gonna take you a little time To wait before God and to let him break you the revival We've seen the one that happened two years ago here went for nine and a half weeks. The one I was in went for months Up and up in the country. I was in in 85 And God continued to break us and break us and break us and he's continued till then and unless we'll stay broken We get back proud proud and so Samuel said with all your hearts When are we gonna begin to see that the ways of man are the things that we do just aren't going to bring it and So they said okay, and so they got before God and they repented and they had revival. They said we have sinned in verse 6 and and the devil's getting and getting things in gear and he gets the Philistines to come after them and Here come the Philistines after at one point. They're turning to God and the Philistines are back lining up to come get him and The interesting thing in verse 6 it says they gathered together to misbehave and to water and Poured it out before the Lord. You know what that is and they fasted on that day You know what that is. They're saying we're helpless They said we've sinned. It's like Romans 5 6 says when we were without strength Christ died for the ungodly. Have you ever seen yourself as ungodly you say why sure I have never seen myself that way Well, you never been saved then because Christ died for the ungodly until you see yourself as ungodly. You'll never get saved And Romans 5 8 says why we were yet sinners Christ died for us. They said we've sinned in verse 6. And so here come the Philistines they're having confession before God the Philistines are moving in and then Samuel and verse 9 says he took a suckling lamb and offered it for a burnt offering Holy unto the Lord and Samuel cried unto the Lord for Israel and the Lord heard him and as Samuel was offering up the burnt offering the Philistines drew near to battle against Israel But the Lord thundered with a great thunder on that day upon the Philistines and discomfited them and they were smitten before Israel my friend when Jesus died on the cross and he shed his blood. That's what he did to the devil You don't have to live in defeat God thundered against him you apply the blood you come and you say Lord you gave me victory Thanks be to God who gives me the victory and I believe you for victory ask you to rebuke the devil and I'm gonna claim Victory for my church. I'm gonna claim revival God. Would you move into my family? Would you move into my house? Would you move into the place where I work? Would you move against Satan? Because of Calvary's blood we operate on the basis of the blood and have victory So Christ died according to the scriptures, this is the scriptures when it says Christ died according to the scriptures Where yeah, let me give you a remark a comment on this the lamb that had been slain Will be the center of the glory and I'll add of God and His death the theme of our conversation Listen to that statement. Somebody said this and I copied it down the lamb that had been slain will be the center of the glory and His death the theme of our conversation. That's our talk for all eternity and If you're not focused in on the power of the blood of the Lamb, you're not focused in on Jesus. I You haven't had the gospel He died and was buried and rose again. You've got to have that to have the gospel Listen to this. Let me take you back over to first Peter 1 18 and 19 First Peter 1 18 says for as much as you know that you were not redeemed with corruptible things as silver and gold from your vain conversation Received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ as of a lamb without blemish and without splot On earth he is the theme of our walk in heaven for all eternity It will be the theme of our conversation and if he's not the theme of your walk, then I'll tell you you're not living in power You're not living in victory. You're living in defeat So behold the Lamb of God verse 20 who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world But was manifest in these last times for you Peter said so behold the Lamb of God You know, why does the book of Revelation depict the Lord Jesus Christ as the slain lamb so many times so many times why listen to this in five and in verse six and I beheld and lo in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts and in the midst of the Elders stood a lamb as it had been slain Look down in verse nine They sung a new song sent out worthy to take the book and to open the seals thereof for thou was slain and has redeemed Us to God by the by blood out of every kindred and tongue and people Why is it and you go over to chapter 12? Chapter 12 and and verse 11 in chapter 7 and verse 14 is the blood of the Lamb 12 11 You know we and they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb you go over to 13 8 13 8 and The blood of the the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world Why is it you know, Isaiah 53 7 says he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter Verse 8 of Isaiah says for the transgression of my people was he stricken? Why is it that it talks about the blood so much? Why is it here is why I believe for all eternity? We will remember his death and that through his death. He won the victory for me the blood of the Lamb slain and when you get up there you're gonna be able to see that blood because Jesus took it up and offered it before the Father and He accepted it. The book of Hebrews teaches us these things Redemption will never be forgotten. This is why we get victory over Satan by reminding him that he was defeated at the cross and So Satan has reminded you go to Colossians chapter 2 Look at 12 through 14. So when John said behold the Lamb He meant you watch the Lamb You watch the Lamb keep your eyes on the Lamb. Remember the blood don't forget the blood at the Calvary he gave us victory through the blood and you'll have victory day by day as you remember that and you remind Satan that He has no power over you. Well, I've got to go my time's gone till next time God bless you and remember Jesus Christ is all you need is he all you want. God bless you my friend
