7 events occur between the 6th and 7th trumpet. 10:1-8; 10:9-11; 11:1-6; 11:7-10; 11:11-14; 11:15-19
- The Angel with the book in his hand - Utterance Hidden. 10:1-7 V.1 a) Shining mighty angel -
I. The first strong or mighty angel was seen in 5:2
II. The word another (Gr. allos) means another of the same kind.
III. Clothed perhaps with a glory cloud and with a sign of God’ s covenant faithfulness with man on his head - The rainbow. Gen.9:12-17 IV. His face shun like the sun (with glory).
V. His feet like pillars of fire - Speaks of God’ s judgment.
VI. The angel is not Jesus:
A. The angel here is of the same kind as the angel in 5:2, no one should liken Jesus to an angel in nature. Heb. Ch.1; 2:5-9 B. Jesus’ face shines like the sun in its strength 1:16, this angel’ s face also shines like the sun but not in its strength. V.2 b) Setting of his feet -
I. The other strong angel was also connected to a scroll like this angel. 5:1-2
II. The angel sat his fiery feet on the land and the sea:
A. His message involves the whole world.
B. He is taking authority over the sea and earth. 11:13-19; Joshua 1:3 III. The little open book is little because the great tribulation is a short time.
IV. The little book (Gr. bibliaridion) is not the scroll (Gr. biblion) of the lamb, the Greek word is not the same.
V.3 c) Seven thunders -
I. The other strong angel also cried with a loud voice like this angel 5:2, this angel roars like a lion (With holy anger). Prov.19:12; Joel 3:16 II. The 7 thunders speak a message. Jer.25:30 V.4 d) Sealing of the Seven thunders - John 12:28-29; 2.Cor.12:1-4 I. John is not permitted to write the message of the 7 thunders. Dan.8:26 These 7 thunders are the only sealed thing in the book of Revelation.
II. Many so-called “ prophets” has proclaimed to know what the message of the 7 thunders is.
III. There is one place in Scripture referring to a sevenfold message from a voice of thunder. David sees a gradual storm approaching from afar. Psalms 29:3-9

The voice thunders over the waters - Its place.

The voice is powerful - Its power.
-
The voice is majestic - Its Majesty.

The voice breaks cedars - It breaks.
-
The voice divides fire - It divides.

The voice shakes the wilderness - It shakes.

The voice makes the deer give birth - It delivers. IV. If the 7 thunders have anything to do with Psalms 29:3-9 only God alone knows, perhaps He will reveal the 7 thunders message in the future.
V. The 7 thunders are probably judgments that are released at this time.
V.5-6 e) Swearing that delay has ceased -
I. The angel swears by God in heaven - Emphasis on the importance of the saying. Dan.12:7; Gen.14:22 II. Why God has delayed this time of judgment:
A. God began delaying the time when Christ was rejected as the Messiah. Dan.9:24-27 B. God takes no pleasure in judging man; judgment is called God’ s strange ways. Isaiah 28:21 C. God delays because He wants no man to be eternally damned into the lake of fire. 2.Peter 3:9 V.7 f) Secrecy of God is finished when the Seventh angel Sounds -
I. The 7 thunders sounds before the 7th angel sounds his trumpet.
II. When the 7th angel blows the trumpet then the mystery of the kingdom of God would be finished. 11:15-19
III. There are many mysteries in the New Testament:
- The mysteries of the kingdom of heaven. Matt.13:11 2. The mysteries of the kingdom of God. Luke 8:10 3. The mystery of Israel’ s hardened heart.
Rom.11:25 4. The mystery hidden in ages but now revealed. Rom.16:25-26 5. The entrusting of the servants of Christ with the mysteries of God. 1.Cor.4:1 6. The mystery of His will. Eph.1:9 7.
The administration of the mystery of God’s grace. Eph.3:2-3 8. The mystery of Christ. Eph.3:4; Col.4:3 9. The mystery kept hidden for ages. Eph.3:9 10.
The mystery of Christ and the church. Eph.5:32 11. The mystery kept hidden for ages and generations. Col.1:26 12. The mystery of Christ in you. Col.1:27 13.
The mystery of God, the Father and Christ. Col.2:2 14. The mystery of lawlessness already at work. 2.Thes.2:7 15. The mystery of the faith. 1.Tim.3:9 16. The mystery of godliness. 1.Tim.3:16 17. The mystery of the seven stars.
Rev.1:20 18. The mystery of God that will be finished. Rev.10:7 19. Follows the 7 thunders that is a mystery for all Christians. 20. The mystery of Babylon the great. Rev.17:5 IV. The mystery of the kingdom of God is the gradual stage of His kingdom being manifested in the world. Matt.13:11 (1-52); Luke 8:10; Rev.11:15-19

I. John is told to take the little open book that perhaps contains Ch.12-22.
II. Ezekiel was also told to eat a book and to prophesy. Ezek.2:8-3:4; Jer.15:15-17 V.9-10 h) Swallow the book -
I. The message of the book was sweet in his mouth, perhaps because of its anointed message. II. The message of the book would become bitter in his stomach, as he meditated (digested it) on the message it would cause grieve, perhaps because of the many that wouldn’ t respond to its message and experience judgment. III. The Word of God is spiritual food unto man.
A. Milk. 1.Peter 2:2; Heb.5:12 B. Bread. Matthew 4:4 C. Meat. 1.Cor.3:1-2; Heb.5:12-14 D. Honey. Psalms 119:103 E. Butter. Psalms 55:21
V.11 i) Speak to all -
I. When he has eaten the message of the book he is told to prophesy. Jer.1:9-10 II. First consume the word then speak it.
