07.02. The Origin of All
The Origin of All
Have you ever made anything? Maybe you will say I made a cake one time. Some people used to make biscuits; imagine that. Men make or create many things. Or do they? I submit to you that man has never truly created anything. When we make a cake we simply combine ingredients to produce it. We do not make the ingredients.
Some of you may recall the story that is told of the different perspective of two space travelers. The Russian Cosmonaut went into space and said, "there is no God, I looked around and do not see Him anywhere." The American went into space and said, "There is a God, I see Him everywhere." Some will say there is no God and that all of the things that exist came about by chance and time. We know this as evolution. We say there is a God who spoke all things into existence. They say the origin is still a mystery to be delved into, we say it was God that need only to be believed. The Open Bible in its Cyclopedia Index defines creation as, "causing what didn’t exist to exist." The Bible declare the most profound and definitive statement concerning the origin of all that exists when it says, "In the beginning God created…" The Bible leaves no dough about where creation came from.
I- Big Bang or God’s Voice?
I have a couple of questions for our evolution-believing friends. Where did original matter come from? If we were to consent, and I don’t, that all things came about as the result of a big bang where did the material come from to make all things? There had to be matter prior to the bang. Where did the energy come from to produce the bang? Energy does not just product itself.
There is a law of science that is known as the First Law of Thermodynamics, which says, "Energy can be changed from one form to another, but it cannot be created nor destroyed." This simply says that nothing can come from nothing, which contradicts the theory of evolution at it very root. So if there had to be material for the band and energy for the bang there still had to be a creative agent. I submit to you that the creation we know was by God who was and is more powerful than all of creation together. There had to be a supernatural act that breaks the know laws of science for all things to come about. God created everything out of nothing and only God could do so. Lets talk about making something or creating something again as we return to our first question, have you ever made anything. We talk about building a house. Does the carpenter created or make a house? I submit that he does not. He put the material together that he did not make. So if the carpenter cannot be said to build or create the house then we must look back from this see who is responsible. It must be the lumber company and the sawmills. They took the trees and made the framing and plywood for the floors, walls and roof. But hold on they did not do anything to make the tree from which they got the wood. Even the lumber company that owns the trees can only plant the seed in the ground someone else made, they cannot even cause the tree to grow in the grown. So we can simply say that no man made the house he only assembled what was already made. Beloved the cause and effect must be larger than man. The cause and effect of creation is God.
II- A Triune Act:
We find that the Trinity was involved in the act of creation as revealed by the Word of God. First we have God the Father in the first verse of Genesis, "In the beginning God created." And about whom Hebrews 11:3 says, "Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear."
Next we see the Son involved in the act of creation. I submit to you that He was in fact the instrument of creation. Colossians 1:16 "For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him." We also see this clearly in John 1:1-3 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made."
Next we see the third person of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit involved in creating all. Genesis 1:2 "And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters." Psalms 104:30 states, "Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created: and thou renewest the face of the earth."
III- The Six Days:
We cannot dwell on a deep study of the Hebrew to convince us that the six days of creation were not long spans of time. Nor can we look at the evidence, which there is a great amount, which convinces us that creation is not as old as some claim. By this time I simply wish to read the record of the creation as given to us by God. I trust by this time you know it was God and just want to know how. Lets turn to Genesis 1:1-26 and read the Origin of All. We will return to this second at least two more times in this series.
Remember now Colossians 1:16 "For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him."
IV- A New "All"
I feel like I would be amiss if we did not understand that God did not only created this creation but has given us a promise of, if you will a new "all."
Isaiah 65:17 ; Isaiah 65:25 "For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind….25 The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent’s meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the LORD." This gives us the Old Testament foundation for the New All.
2 Peter 3:10-13 "But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. 11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, 12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? 13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness."
Within these verse we have the destruction of the creation as we know it now and the promise of a new creation not tainted by sin. There is also an important question tucked within. "Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness."
