Context — The Uncleanness of Women
24If a man lies with her and her menstrual flow touches him, he will be unclean for seven days, and any bed on which he lies will become unclean.
25When a woman has a discharge of her blood for many days at a time other than her menstrual period, or if it continues beyond her period, she will be unclean all the days of her unclean discharge, just as she is during the days of her menstruation. 26Any bed on which she lies or any furniture on which she sits during the days of her discharge will be unclean, like her bed during her menstrual period.Cross References

Leviticus 15:24 Summary
This verse is talking about what happens when a man has intimate relations with a woman during her menstrual period - both the man and the bed he lies on become unclean for a period of time. This is because, in biblical times, a woman's menstrual flow was seen as a symbol of uncleanness, as mentioned in Leviticus 15:19-24. The idea is that just as our bodies need to be clean, our spirits need to be clean too, and God wants us to separate ourselves from things that are unclean, as seen in 2 Corinthians 6:17-18. By following God's rules, we can learn to respect His boundaries and prioritize spiritual purity in our lives.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the significance of the seven-day uncleanness period in Leviticus 15:24?
The seven-day uncleanness period is a reminder of the seriousness of sin and the need for purification, as seen in other biblical contexts such as Leviticus 13:6 and Numbers 19:11-12.
Why does the bed become unclean if a man lies with a woman during her menstrual flow?
The bed becomes unclean because it has come into contact with the woman's unclean flow, highlighting the importance of separating the clean from the unclean, as taught in Leviticus 15:24 and reinforced in Leviticus 11:47.
Is this verse still applicable to Christians today?
While the specific regulations in Leviticus 15:24 are part of the Old Testament law, the underlying principles of purity and separation from uncleanness are still relevant for Christians, as seen in 2 Corinthians 6:17-18 and 1 Thessalonians 4:7.
What can we learn from this verse about God's character?
This verse reveals God's concern for holiness and purity, as well as His desire to protect His people from the consequences of sin, as shown in Leviticus 15:24 and elsewhere in Scripture, such as in Exodus 19:6 and Isaiah 6:3.
