Esther 5:1 Summary
This verse tells us that Esther put on her royal clothes and stood in the palace courtyard, across from the king's quarters. She was getting ready to talk to the king, which was a big deal because she could have been killed for approaching him without being invited, as seen in Esther 4:11. But Esther was brave and trusted God, just like it says in Psalm 28:7, that the Lord is our strength and shield. She wanted to help her people, and she was willing to take a risk to do it, which is an example to us of what it means to trust God and have faith, as seen in Hebrews 11:1.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why did Esther wait three days before approaching the king?
Esther waited three days to approach the king, possibly to fast and pray with her people, as mentioned in Esther 4:16, and to prepare herself spiritually for the task ahead, as seen in Daniel 10:2-3 where Daniel fasted and prayed before receiving a vision from God.
What is the significance of Esther wearing her royal attire?
Esther wearing her royal attire signified her position and authority as queen, and it may have also been a way to show respect and humility before the king, as mentioned in Proverbs 22:1, which says that a good name is to be chosen rather than great riches.
Why was the king sitting on his royal throne in the royal courtroom?
The king was sitting on his royal throne in the royal courtroom, which was a symbol of his power and authority, as seen in Psalm 29:10, where God is described as sitting enthroned over the flood, and in 1 Samuel 4:4, where the Ark of the Covenant is said to be the throne of God.
What can we learn from Esther's boldness in approaching the king?
Esther's boldness in approaching the king can teach us about the importance of faith and trust in God, as seen in Hebrews 11:6, which says that without faith it is impossible to please God, and in Romans 8:28, which says that all things work together for good to those who love God.
