Daniel 11:6 Summary
This verse, Daniel 11:6, tells us about a future alliance between two powerful kings, the king of the North and the king of the South, which will eventually fail. The daughter of the king of the South is given to the king of the North to seal the agreement, but she will not retain her power and will be given up. This reminds us that human power and alliances are fleeting, and that God is in control of all things, as seen in Psalm 103:19 and Romans 11:36. We can learn from this verse to trust in God's sovereignty and wisdom, rather than seeking security in human relationships or power, as encouraged in Jeremiah 17:7-8 and Matthew 6:33.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who are the kings of the North and South in Daniel 11:6?
The kings of the North and South are believed to refer to the rulers of the Seleucid and Ptolemaic kingdoms, respectively, which were two of the four kingdoms that emerged after the death of Alexander the Great, as described in Daniel 8:21-22 and Daniel 10:20.
What is the purpose of the alliance formed between the kings of the North and South?
The alliance is formed to create a temporary peace, but it ultimately fails, as seen in Daniel 11:6, and is a part of the larger struggle between these two kingdoms, as prophesied in Daniel 10:20 and Daniel 11:1-5.
What happens to the daughter of the king of the South after she is given to the king of the North?
According to Daniel 11:6, the daughter of the king of the South does not retain her position of power, and she is eventually given up, along with her royal escort and her father, which may be a reference to her death or captivity, as seen in similar prophecies in Isaiah 23:12 and Ezekiel 28:7-8.
How does this verse relate to the overall message of the book of Daniel?
This verse is part of a larger prophecy about the rise and fall of kingdoms, and the ultimate triumph of God's people, as seen in Daniel 2:44 and Daniel 7:27-28, which reminds us that God is in control of all human events, as stated in Isaiah 46:10 and Jeremiah 29:11.
