God chooses and commissions certain individuals to serve as prophets, speaking on His behalf to His people. In Deuteronomy, the Lord promises to raise up a prophet like Moses, and warns against those who speak presumptuously in His name. The book of Numbers highlights the importance of prophets receiving their message from God, as seen in the experience of Miriam, Aaron, and Moses. The prophet Amos emphasizes that the Lord does nothing without revealing His plans to His servants the prophets, while Revelation showcases the prophetic role in the seven letters to the churches, calling them to faithfulness and repentance.

I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brothers. I will put My words in his mouth, and he will tell them everything I command him.
But if any prophet dares to speak a message in My name that I have not commanded him to speak, or to speak in the name of other gods, that prophet must be put to death.”
Surely the Lord GOD does nothing without revealing His plan to His servants the prophets.

The natural man does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God. For they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.

Nevertheless, the LORD sent prophets to bring the people back to Him and to testify against them; but they would not listen.
He was known before the foundation of the world, but was revealed in the last times for your sake.
When a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD and the message does not come to pass or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. The prophet has spoken presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him.
