11 Bible Verses on Getting Rest

11 verses

In a world filled with activity and responsibility, the Bible teaches the importance of finding rest in God. According to Psalms and Proverbs, rest is a gift from God, allowing believers to recharge and trust in His sovereignty, as seen in Psalms 127:2 and Proverbs 3:24. Jesus invites His disciples to "come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest" in Mark 6:31, highlighting the need for physical and spiritual rejuvenation. The book of Hebrews also emphasizes the significance of entering into God's rest, as described in Hebrews 4:9-11, while Exodus 20:8-11 establishes the Sabbath as a day of rest, reminding believers to prioritize their relationship with God and find rest in Him.

For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth and the sea and all that is in them, but on the seventh day He rested. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and set it apart as holy.

Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters.
Then Jesus declared, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.
