In the apostolic era, the early Christian communities faced challenges from individuals who outwardly professed faith but inwardly harbored deceitful intentions. The Apostle Paul warns believers to beware of such false brethren, urging them to mark and avoid those who cause divisions and offenses in Romans 16:17. He also instructs the Thessalonians to keep away from disorderly and idle individuals in 2 Thessalonians 3:6, and cautions Timothy about those who hold a form of godliness but deny its power in 2 Timothy 3:5. Meanwhile, 2 Corinthians 11:13-15 exposes the masquerade of false apostles, emphasizing the need for discernment and a commitment to genuine worship, as encouraged in Romans 12:1.
