11 Bible Verses on Faith of a Child

11 verses

In the Gospels, Jesus teaches that a childlike faith is essential for entering the kingdom of heaven. According to Matthew 18:3 and Luke 18:17, becoming like a little child is a prerequisite for receiving God's kingdom. Jesus welcomes children and blesses them, as seen in Mark 10:13-16 and Matthew 19:14, illustrating the importance of humble and trusting faith. The book of Proverbs also encourages parents to train their children in the ways of the Lord, as stated in Proverbs 22:6, highlighting the value of instilling faith in young ones. This childlike faith is characterized by simplicity, trust, and dependence on God.

“Truly I tell you,” He said, “unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
Truly I tell you, anyone who does not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”
But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not hinder them! For the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
Now people were bringing the little children to Jesus for Him to place His hands on them, and the disciples rebuked those who brought them. But when Jesus saw this, He was indignant and told them, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not hinder them! For the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who does not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” And He took the children in His arms, placed His hands on them, and blessed them.
Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.
From the mouths of children and infants You have ordained praise on account of Your adversaries, to silence the enemy and avenger.
“Do you hear what these children are saying?” they asked. “Yes,” Jesus answered. “Have you never read: ‘From the mouths of children and infants You have ordained praise’ ?”
Fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath; instead, bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who approaches Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.
At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who then is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” Jesus invited a little child to stand among them. “Truly I tell you,” He said, “unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes a little child like this in My name welcomes Me. But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea. Woe to the world for the causes of sin. These stumbling blocks must come, but woe to the man through whom they come! If your hand or your foot causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life crippled or lame than to have two hands and two feet and be thrown into the eternal fire. And if your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell. See that you do not look down on any of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of My Father in heaven. What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them goes astray, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go out to search for the one that is lost? And if he finds it, truly I tell you, he rejoices more over that one sheep than over the ninety-nine that did not go astray. In the same way, your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should perish.
But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.
