In the pursuit of one's profession, Scripture encourages a surrendered heart, committing plans to the Lord and trusting in His guidance. According to Proverbs, when we roll our works onto God, He establishes our thoughts, leading to a sense of purpose and direction. The Bible also teaches the importance of diligence and responsibility in our careers, as seen in Ecclesiastes and Luke, where we are reminded to work wholeheartedly and consider the costs of our endeavors. Ultimately, as Romans assures us, all things, including our careers, work together for good for those who love God, when we delight in Him and commit our ways to Him, as Psalms instructs.

Seek the prosperity of the city to which I have sent you as exiles. Pray to the LORD on its behalf, for if it prospers, you too will prosper.”

Just as each of us has one body with many members, and not all members have the same function, so in Christ we who are many are one body, and each member belongs to one another. We have different gifts according to the grace given us. If one’s gift is prophecy, let him use it in proportion to his faith; if it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is giving, let him give generously; if it is leading, let him lead with diligence; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.
