Faith in God's New Work

1 sermons

The concept of "Faith in God's New Work" is rooted in the biblical promise of God's ongoing redemption and restoration, as seen in Isaiah 43:19, where God declares, "I am doing a new thing." This idea is further developed in the New Testament, where the apostle Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 5:17, "If anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" Faith in God's new work involves trusting in His power to transform and renew all things, as expressed in Romans 8:28, where Paul assures believers that "in all things God works for the good of those who love him." By embracing this faith, Christians can participate in God's redemptive work, experiencing the promise of Psalms 23:1, "The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing," as they follow Him into the new things He is doing.

T. Austin-Sparks

T. Austin-Sparks emphasizes that God's purpose for His people goes beyond their current state, as illustrated by the story of Zacharias and Elisabeth. Despite their faithful service, God had a greater plan that required them to be open to His new work, represented by the coming of John the Baptist.
