Deification

1 sermons

Deification, often referred to as the process of becoming one with God's divine nature, is a profound concept rooted in Scripture. The Bible teaches that through Christ's redemptive work, believers are invited into a transformative relationship that leads to a participation in the divine nature, as articulated in 2 Peter 1:4. This transformation is not merely an external change but a deep, internal renewal, echoing the promise found in Romans 12:2, where Paul urges believers to be transformed by the renewing of their minds. Jesus Himself exemplifies this divine relationship, teaching in John 10:34 that humans can be called 'gods' when they are in alignment with God's will and purpose. Furthermore, the Apostle Paul emphasizes in Galatians 2:20 that believers are crucified with Christ, and it is no longer they who live, but Christ who lives in them, highlighting the intimate union between the believer and the divine. Ultimately, this journey toward deification culminates in the hope of eternal life, as expressed in 1 John 3:2, where we are assured that when Christ appears, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. Through these scriptures, we understand that deification is both a present reality and a future hope for all who are in Christ.
