We Would See Jesus - Part 1

My dear friends, tonight is another night of prayer for us. That means, right after the evening's meeting, that is, it will merge into the prayer meeting. So, the evening meeting, we only dismiss the people from the city, so that they can return to their houses if they cannot stay longer. So, we would pray. I remember the night when the dawn broke and the daylight came in. So, the spirit of prayer may be given to all of us. Especially those who have neglected the Lord's day. There is a very grave danger of losing, of getting off the race, and grieving the spirit of God. Now, I have got to be brief. Before I send you off to the, what, tuck shop? Okay. Now, dear friends, if you will please turn to John 12, and the 21st verse, then came, therefore, to, the same came, therefore, to Philip, who were these? The Greeks who had come for the Passover feast. And which was a betsider of Galilee, and desired him, saying, Sir, we would see Jesus. Philip came and told Andrew, and again Andrew and Philip told Jesus. Now, the Greeks were renowned for their philosophy. There are some people in the world who like philosophical concepts. Now, I was never drawn to mere philosophy. As a young man, I had to face practical problems. There were several problems. The work was very small. To organize a meeting was quite hard. First of all, I used to try to find a light bulb. A hundred watt light bulb. And draw a line and fix that bulb. We had no public address systems. We had no elaborate platforms or musical instruments. But we had a few hungry hearts before us. People full of personal tied up spirits and burdens. And we had to crack through many of their idols and bondages. But there was an atmosphere. The presence of the Lord. Jesus was very real. And we could see bones being broken. Feathers being shattered. Why? The Lord Jesus was there. The trouble with all these elaborate arrangements and halls and stuff like that is that we get lost in all this clutter. And we do not ask even, where is Jesus? All we want is lovely singing and a great gathering and many people in the world today want just an emotional high. Is Jesus there? Does not even figure as a question. Is Jesus there? Does not even come as a question. Do you see that my dear friend? Maybe you are delighted to see some familiar faces. Yes, it is a happy thing to be with God's children. Oh yes, I have enjoyed fellowship from my childhood. Boyhood.
