Sermon Transcription
Good evening. It's a wonderful to have Jesus Christ near by. People can say, get a good house clean, but they can't say the word Jesus. And that makes your life wonderful, no matter what it is. I'm going to speak today and talk about the Lordship of Jesus Christ, the Lordship of Jesus Christ in our lives. And before we start, I'd like to pray. It's wonderful, wonderful, wonderful to be here, and it's lovely to serve Jesus. Father, thank you so much for thy Word, thy precious, precious Word. Thank you for the John 17 Assembly. For thy truth, thy word is truth, thy word is truth. And thank you for that truth, for the two edges still, the bottom and the end. And that we have the truth. Jesus Christ is a part of our community, to testify of the truth. And thank you. And I just ask the Lord to be with me, and to speak to me, and to let your truth, your silence in this hall, your power, to speak to every heart sitting here, standing with me. And your binding on me, Jesus, and I am Jesus. And that you'll be in a very special way that there's likely to be nothing without you. And I thank you, Lord, that you're Jesus Christ now, my dear Lord and Savior. Now Acts 2 verse 36 says, Therefore all the house of Israel is a church of the Lord and Christ. Now I don't want to bring up to the Greek, because people sitting here have only learned Bible practice in Greek, but the Greek of Lord is primios, which is supreme in authority. Now all those in authority have a life of a better longing, a respecting to a grandfather, a respecting. We've got, I don't know if you've ever been to a proper school with teachers, and you've got the government, and you've got the police, it's all over Iraq in Africa, and you're all these people, and that authority is in the life of a supreme authority, a person whom everybody is supposed to bow down, worship, and pray, and submit to Him as Jesus Christ. As we read in Acts 2 verse 6, and many other verses of the Bible, He's Lord, supreme in authority. Now many people carry on, and you don't have to remember the word ball catcher, baseball catcher. But it's been the same. The only baseball catcher of the word of Jesus Christ is Lord. Jesus is Lord. And that's very nice. It's interesting that they look at the baseball catcher. Maybe if you look at the people who make the baseball catcher. They walk around with the baseball catcher, and they go, Jesus said, why are you calling Lord, Lord, and did not put Him in just that? Why are you calling Lord, Lord, and did not put Him in just that? If Jesus is Lord in the area of your life, if Jesus is Lord in the area of your life, then He's Lord, and He's honored. If Jesus is Lord in the area of your life, then He's blessed in that area at any cost. In the area of family, family. Now here once, a few years back, I remember there was a bunch of lovely young people. But there was this wonderful young people, and there's a place, and one of these young people, Jesus, was running across the light, the deep, supreme light, and Jesus said, and there were very normal people, and I remember the tears going down my mother's face, and she looked at me, and she said, Lord, oh, it would be wonderful. It would be wonderful if we could take these youth and show them to other youth, so they could see what God can do. Now, I was a captain in South Africa, amazing service, but running across the light was so many areas in which I could see that they didn't understand, and so I stood up and I told them, I'm only going to stand up until you are told today, but I'm sure you don't mind, but I'm going to stand up until you are told today, and I'm going to mention many other things. And I don't remember what his name was, a Greek, sorry, a legend, one verse, do I seek to please men? Well, if I did please men, I would not be the servant of God. I'd like to ask a few questions here. A question. What are the areas in which Jesus Christ should be Lord in our life? What are the areas in which Jesus Christ should speak? The area of music, the area of family, the area of your life, the area of time, the area of your relationships, the area of your friends, your clothes, your money, and there are others. What are the areas in which Jesus Christ should be Lord? I'm going to go through these areas now. The first one is speech. Speech. Matthew 15, verse 18, says that those things which you proceed out of your mouth, this the Father of man. Ephesians 4, verse 20, proceed out of your mouth. Now, I have interesting people, I travel around South Africa, but you meet interesting people of different standards. A lot of people don't have any reasons why they are not self-justified as far as standards go. There's one guy, when we talk about areas, it's a promise to swear. The word meaning. Actually, meaning. The word meaning. It's amazing how they deal with it. In Australia, I mean, it's not Americans. Americans are wonderful, but some Americans, American missionaries, they come into South Africa with their amazing standards, and we make use of that as an argument. Ten years back, I never heard this argument in South Africa, this devil's argument in South Africa. But we can use the name of the Lord our God entirely, because we're not talking about our God. So many missionaries that come to South Africa bring with them that terrifying, terrifying argument. And I've actually heard from some Islamic Christians, they started to believe this, they started to do this. They started to watch television, and watch programs, and they don't know what to do with themselves. The Bible says, Exodus 29, verse 7, thou shalt not take the lamb of the Lord. A lot of Christians are here, and this is just ignorance, but they use the Lord, God's name in the Bible. They use it in other languages. They say, Jeshia, Jeshu. And they don't realize it's another language, the African language, that's Jesus. And Christ means, the Jewish form is to say Christ. If you, in the end of your speech, back-tap your parents continuously, if you back-tap your parents continuously when the rest of you do things, then Jesus Christ is not the Lord of men there in your life. And if you use your tongue to lie, and I'm talking about your life, you're not the Lord, then Jesus Christ is not the Lord of men there in your life. I do believe in life, but I've got to lie. In the sense that little lies aren't so bad, but big lies, that's bad, but little lies are bad. And I used to, I used to never cheat when it came to, the second area, the area of your eyes, the area of your eyes, at the end of your speech, Jesus, I'd like to ask you, as you go through these areas, please, ask yourself the question, does God want to come first? Does God want to come first? And the area of your eyes, I'm not going to go into pornography and things like that too much, but I'd like to say that I've met anybody who can at the time start to fall into these things. I've met people who stood for years, and years, and years, and years, and years, and years, and eventually they cut, for some reason, because they weren't careful. Matthew 5, verse 28, Jesus Christ says, but I've met so many conservative Christians who used to, for years, and years, and years, and years, not look at television, or not look for television, or music, for some reason, which are wrong. And that's why I say to anybody who's conservative, any American Christian, I've looked in some towns in South Africa, and to the standard Christians, these Christians are wonderful, lovely Christians, and their parents are unbelievers. I know a person, a dear friend of mine, he said, alright, you should watch porn on television. He said, well, God said to him, isn't it right that you watch women? He said, I believe in freedom. We preach our faith, but not to suffer. We preach our faith, but never that God said to preach to suffer. I'm sure nobody reads Harry Potter yet. Harry Potter, the old monster which was in Exodus 23, verse 19. Now, we can read it. You know, when you go into a shopping mall, when you go into a shopping mall, there's often these scenes, and you can't help, obviously you can't help going into a shopping mall, but you can't help when you go into that shopping mall, seeing these things. But you know what you can do? You can't help looking at them, and enjoying them. I'm not talking about women now, but enjoying them, you can go for a walk a little bit, but you've got to do this. Oh, that's wonderful. You don't have to do that. There's so many Christians. When I was in Barbados, my first Wednesday, two guys driving a car, and I was, I'm saying, they're driving a car, and I'm looking at this big, and they're like, oh, that's wonderful, that's beautiful. I said, what the heck are you doing? And they're driving, and they're saying, boy, we just normal. We normal. I will come and say that we're normal. Are they normal sinners? The third area is your thought life. Your thought life. Obviously we've talked about that question, God, where do we live? Reasoning away. So many people, like those people sitting with me in the squareways, they're reasoning away, they don't stand up. I don't do those things that they're Christians saying. I don't do those things. You can't be beautiful about it. So you've got to give it love, God. Take people. Take people. Don't sit there and not do anything. It doesn't work that way. I've been to our holy gardens one day in the evening, and they're all standing before the judges here. The things we allow in our life, the things we've not done for our hearts and souls and minds. It's not a 60 cent question, but in this manner I live, anything that is poor in my country apartment, treasure it at my word. You know what we have in this world? People who pray to that word, God. I don't need you to lay it out for me. The joint church on Sunday, God. Mission trips to Africa. Win a million souls. Yeah, yeah. I don't care what the numbers are. So many other areas, God. So they seem to be on fire for God. They're going on mission trips to Africa. The third area, sorry, the fourth area of thought life. The fourth area is your running. The area of your running. You know, some people think they can, they think they own their bodies. But this is in the scripture. 1 Corinthians 6 verse 20 says, For ye are bought with a price and are glorified by God in your body and in your spirit which are God's. You bought with a price. This body, he's anointed because we're not glorified, we're glorified. His feet are glorified. Your feet are God's feet. His legs, his arms, his body is God's body. 1 Corinthians, gosh I'm sorry, 6 verse 11 says, What? But I'm not going to tell you, I'm not going to tell you, that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost. You are not your own. You're not your own. So the devil hates your body. He hates your body in the spirit and in the image of God. That's what 1 Corinthians 26 says. And we wish you can heal your members to righteousness. 1 Corinthians 6 verse 7. You can use your hands to serve. You can use to glorify God. And he wants to glorify God in every area of your life. People in evangelical churches are piercing their bodies, hurting their bodies, and think they own their bodies. I met someone here who used to be a veteran servant of the church and that's what happened to him. Now many people have touched smoking. I know nobody has touched, I hope, a long time ago. But some people honestly feel that smoking is not wrong. Some people, actually I've met Africans, obviously none of you have got problems with this, but they say, they've got duffer in their hand, they say that the Bible does say that you're not allowed to smoke, you're only allowed to use drugs. In other words, not, I'm not saying why yourself, you might feel like the area of your body is God's law in the area of your body. I'm not going to guarantee it, I don't think, actually I will mention it on occasion. And the reason I'm going to mention it is because I've met so many young people who stand like Christians. I've been in college, I remember in college once, he was on fire for God, on fire for God. And he came back from a holiday once and he knocked down beside me and he prayed and he said, Oh God, I've always been scared in this area with regards to, I sat for hours with one of the most famous missionaries, sorry, preachers in South Africa. Across South Africa people didn't know him. And then about a month later he was in the front page of a newspaper. For 40 years he served God and then he felt, be so careful, be so careful. I don't know why these people thought that the headquarters was, be so careful. In the area of clothes braids, in the area of clothes braids. Now I know that in the Old Testament, obviously by the time we're trying to do this twice a week, we're not aware that it's the thing until men mention a man to drop a woman's on the floor that is for abomination. And I know that people come with arguments, very good arguments. I'm not going to push this argument. Think about it. A hundred years back there was a differentiation between girls' dress and boys' dress. And over that hundred years, it's become less and less to the point where there is little or no difference. Who changed it? Was it the Christians or was it the world? Who changed that standard? It was Hollywood, number one in 20th century. They set the standard. And women's liberation, people like this convention, everybody was wearing the same clothing on. But I'll leave it at that. One thing that we do as men, in my time I was just a woman who built herself a modest attire with the same face as this. I had a friend in South Africa, a very lovely, lovely person, who came out of Joyce's dress. He met his wife in a bar. He married her. They both were wonderfully safe, and they were going to be. But his wife, who was the most lovely guest, said, why can I not see this? Why can I not see this? It's just, don't you want to see the women? It's terrifying. And Michael said to him, and it was one of his words, he said to the first man, woman, keep your legs, so he always said, so it's terrifying, but keep your body, your husband, one leg. There was a famous preacher in South Africa, a marvelous person, he loved, he just loved crying and loving calling a spade a spade. And life changed. And here I read the epics. I sat on the book, and he said, you know, I went to the beach. He said, I went to the beach, and I looked around me. Everybody was looking at me. Then they became monsters. My own boys. Boys. I don't think there's anybody here like this, and I know that actually there isn't anybody here like this. And by the way, have you seen those people with underpants sticking up? These young men, they have underpants sticking up in the back of their hats. I saw this guy, I saw this man, he had underpants sticking up. I looked at him, and I said, I don't know what I said, but I praised the guy, and I said, you know, the Bible teaches, it teaches self-respect. Self-respect. Love others as you love yourself. And it's been shown so many times that people don't respect others because they don't respect themselves. It's a biblical principle. And unfortunately, if you look around at the world, you can see that people don't respect themselves for the way they dress. And the young men I'm going to say something, especially when I'm going to introduce myself in the book, I'm going to say, please, think about it. Why are you wearing pants and underpants up to here? Because someone has to say it. One guy came to me after my message, and he said, you're over the age group of people who wear underpants in the world. I said, what? Is this really wrong? I said, well, you're not going to go to hell because of this. When we think of salvation, it's about the biblical principle of self-respect, and how you live in God's glory in every area of your life. You know what the Bible says, whether that be in eat or drink or whatsoever, anything you do, that includes when you put your clothes on. To all, to the glory of God. To all, to the glory of God. I'd like to look at the area of relationships. Relationships. Relationships. You know, about 15 years back, girls used to be shy. Girls used to be shy. If a boy walked past, and he saw a girl, and he actually looked at her, and he said, well, you know when it was the first time, and I was in public school, the first time a girl came up to me and asked me to do something with her was when I was 12 years old. Little girls who are 11 years old are usually nice and shy. Hello mom, do you want to pick up a hug from me? No. You really don't want a hug from me? No. Girls nowadays, even in many conservative circles, run to talk to boys. You know one boy, I saw him at one camp when I was 12 years old, at a Christian camp. He kissed a girl. But he didn't stop there. He kissed a second girl. And by the end of the camp, he'd broken up with, this was three days, he'd broken up with two girls and he kissed the third girl. And he once testified of a problem with girls. I went to ask one Christian, a young Christian, he said, Roy, I kissed this girl. I said, how could you do that? He said, Roy, when you look in a girl's eyes, you can only look at her. And he said, Roy, I kissed this girl. He said, Roy, I kissed this girl. And he said, I've seen so many conservative people, all in this area, because they won't kick me. I'll kick a ball up and go, I'll throw it to one of you, I'll throw a big tonne ball down their head, and I'll be like, where are they? They'll go like, I'm very careful because I learn not to go. They send me red cases because I don't trust myself. They'll kick me and throw a big one shot at me. I don't want to go. He was the next person I went to. He was a decent little boy because he never ever was careful. But most boys don't care. And girls are not teaching against you. Girls are a lot of the same. I had this one girl, this one family, and the entire family fell in love with her. Not in love, they had a crush on her. So the next month I went to the little one, 12 years old. She was running off to work. It was terrifying. I don't mind 12 years old having a crush, but boy, when you're 12 years old, the running job team tells you that she wants to marry you the rest of your life. You know, when she came to me, she said, I have a free spot to work, can I speak to you? I said, yes, you can speak to me, but I'm going to tell you that all this is to work, and I don't want to miss you. That's fine. So she stood next to me and she said, Alright, I'd like to talk to you. And I talked to her, and I talked to her very kindly. And I said, listen, I'd like to be honest with you, apart from, perhaps, putting things in perspective, I've never met a person in my life, I've been out with a 12 year old. To marry, to marry that person. And the only reason they'll be leaving is because they'll have a kid. Most people would just stay home and have a kid. I said, if you wanted to pay it to your husband, you know how you pay it to your husband? But not even your parents, because if you put it on your parents now, I don't want this, and they'll tell me off, then you want me to put it on your husband? You'll call him harm to put it on your husband? And she actually listened to what I said and stopped running after boys, I was absolutely amazed, I didn't know how many months. And praise God she listened to me, she always listens to me. You know, I've never ever kissed a girl since when I was 12 years old, and I'm ashamed of that, that I kissed her, I'm ashamed of that. But I've never, ever, ever, ever since then and before, ever kissed a girl in my life. And you know what I told the young people when I was with them? I said to them, you know ice cream, ice cream, ice cream is a wonderful thing. If you have ice cream every single day of your life, then ice cream is boring. And the same with kissing girls. If you've kissed a girl every day of your life, then eventually it's boring on me. I know, I've told this story, I've told this story to everybody. Morning, and while we're talking about this story. I said, you know what's wonderful? I've told that to people. I can speak for hours about that first kiss, it's going to be wonderful. I can speak for hours and hours about that first kiss. Because I'm keeping myself, and I'm keeping myself to one one day, that it's going to be wonderful. Family, family, honor your parents the way you can. Honor your parents the way you can. Do you honor your parents? You know people come up to you and they say, my parents are angry. I want to take you to Africa for a little while, to some place where I've been. And I want to show you little kids with tears rolling down their faces. That I've seen in groups when they've come to me. You know I've kissed this guy, but my parents have said, my daddy and mommy. I've talked about this to them, I've told my daddy and mommy. They've seen this, or they've seen it to me when I've gone to sleep. And I've seen them seeing this. And I don't know where they are. Tears starting rolling down their faces. Whole groups of kids in Africa. And they come to me in Austin and they tell me that their parents have beat them up. You know in Africa often parents just let it get to their kids. And little kids, they put them in the toilet and they flush them down the toilet. They beat up their kids. I've talked to little kids with a slight miscarriage. They say, boy, tears rolling down his face. My daddy's not going to tell anybody about me. He's going to beat me up. And before you start dishonoring your parents because they're angry sometimes with me. Those kids, I've said to them, listen. Forgive your parents. Some parents are like that. The only thing you can do actually is forgive them. And then I've told young people, young men, anybody sitting there that doesn't have a parents' office. The whole school is a problem. You can stop the lot. You can stop the lot. Perhaps you can't honor your parents because they're not there for you. But what you can do is you can get ready to have a family. And when you're going to have that family, and the way to prevent that is to honor your parents. In case you can't have a family. One night, you go home after home. Now wait for it. They don't even have a family of their own. There are more kids watching television. They're on the internet. They talk about anything. They're so inspired. It's so wonderful to go and watch TV. In the area of friends. In the area of friends, young people. Young people. Who are your friends? When I was in school, I used to study with young people and used to joke. And I used to try to honor God and try to honor my friends. And what I did was when they told me filthy jokes or wrong jokes, I just kept quiet. I didn't laugh at them, but I knew all the words. And they felt good. You cannot do that with friends. You have to make a stand for Jesus. Even if it costs everything. It costs all your friends. You cannot just be neutral. You have to make a stand. When my dad was young, my dad was on drugs. My dad was a rebel. My dad always used to speak to his friends. My dad would run away from his house. But when my dad came in the form of the Holy Spirit of God, he stopped him and used to be arrogant. He was wanting to turn from his sin and want to accept Jesus Christ as minister. He was counseled and said to him, Keep, I want to go with you. To become a Christian costs. Don't let those people out there say it doesn't cost. It does cost. It's going to cost you your sin number one. It's going to cost you your friends number two. It's going to cost you the places you go. It's going to cost you the places you go. Friends are often the influence here in your standard. Do not deceive, corrupt the man. Friends, their standard will so often become your standard in the area of music. In the area of your standard. In the area of so many things. The way you teach your parents. Your friends. Who start influencing you in their standards and become your standard. Money. No man can serve two masters in the next day. If you give him what God has given him, none of the others who are hopeful and despised him. You cannot serve God and none of them. You know what? Go up north and go to Africa. You're not going to have it. It's a big market. You meet big people, small people. I remember meeting this youth guy. He had muscles of time left. He was absolutely amazing. He was this youth guy. And he got angry. And I was looking at him in person, you know. And I started witnessing. And the more I witnessed it, the more I turned to him. And he was angry. And he said, I have a certain friend who's going to America soon one day. And then he started telling me about it. And I don't like to talk about business. But he said to me, He said, There's no way. They're not compromising in business. And I looked at him. He said he was a Christian. I told him that. But he wasn't very happy. Don't compromise in business, even if it costs you your entire life. How can God trust you with three riches in your country? God hates greed. God loves givers. I've met some givers, by the way, that are very worthy. I've met a guy who gives anything away because you're all giving. Doesn't make you a wonderful Christian. But giving to your heart is wonderful enough. The Bible talks about evil eyes. It's people who don't want to give. The first thing you should give to is your family. The second is to other Christians. And even the third is the word of God. It's written in the Bible that way. You know, I remember in Africa, there was a lovely young Christian. There are Christians there. I can't believe how they give. You know what I love? They give their last pennies. They don't give them their money. They give them their little. And I remember this one. He always meant to give you something away. Whatever, a hundred dollars. I'm so sorry. And every single day of the month, all he wanted to do was take a look at these two Christians. Some of them were not real stuff. And he used to give you money away. He'd take four people out for meals. He used to do everything. And he didn't do it for the men. He didn't do it to be seen as men. He went, oh, that's enough. You see, we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. There's so few people who do that. We lay down our lives for the brethren. So he looks at that area of speech, the area of our eyes, the area of our thoughts, the area of our voices, the area of our closeness, relationships, family, friends, money. And I'd like to look back at the area of music. The area of music. You know what I'd like to do? I'm not going to get my whole segment on music because I don't want to displace. Why do I have to mention music again? Because I've seen it so many times happen. When you preach to young people about music, they're amazed. Oh, yes, we can throw our music away. It's a big move. Throw the music away. It isn't good. And then after a few months, they meet a friend. And that friend has got kind of off by the standards of music. And they start to compromise in the area of music. That's why I repeat to people, some people wonder whether they fall back, and they fall back on that. I'd like to repeat what I said in the sermon earlier, I think last year. My dad was a pimp. And there was a satanist, the head witch of South Africa. And that head witch was manifesting herself and talking like that. My dad didn't know what to do, so she ignored him, and the young person ignored him, and the black person there knew how to deal with these people. And she tells this witch, this white witch, she came saying, set free the Jesus Christ, one of the great gods who came to save us. And then she came to my father, and she said to my father, Keith, I want to submit to you something about music. We know how we use music. We are taught to use music in our culture, so you know what? She said, we know that there's a line. There's a line. There's a line. A moral line that most people don't know about. Even if they reach them in their wings and there's a line and there's steel and there may be some other places they might drink and instead of finding that they won't become a witch and they won't hurt each other. And so we need to break down the immoral resistance and the only way we can do that is to use music. And so we play music in a certain way in a certain beat. And a person that wrote music and wrote a song used this music to break down the resistance. And young men would never do evil so deeply as we wanted them to do that and winning under that music. And they used the same music in churches. And Christians have friends who use the same music. I've seen it happen thousands of people have preached that they throw all their stuff over those people and they come and the other half goes back back to their friends. And their friends look like naughty people. I don't care what your friend looks like. Music of the world! Music of the world! Don't compromise with the world. Because then you're unfaithful to Jesus and faithful to your friends. Unfaithful to Jesus and faithful to your friends. And all of a sudden they come and say listen oh I feel bad You

He co-founded AudioSermon.net, hosts podcasts like The Precious Seed for children and Bible Jesus for all ages, and has authored books and tracts. Based in South Africa with his wife and four children, Roy’s work reflects a commitment to sharing the gospel globally, drawing from his father’s example of Spirit-filled preaching while forging his own path as a missionary and teacher.
