Pioneers (Abraham, a Pioneer of Revival, Missions, and Holiness) - Part 2
David Smithers

David Smithers (c. 1960 – N/A) was an American preacher and revival historian whose ministry focused on promoting Christ-centered revival and prayer within evangelical circles. Born in the United States, he experienced a profound conversion in his youth that ignited a lifelong passion for spiritual awakening. Largely self-educated in theology, he immersed himself in the study of historical revivals for nearly 40 years, drawing inspiration from figures like David Brainerd and John Wesley. Smithers’ preaching career centered on teaching about revival and missions, often speaking at churches, YWAM Discipleship Training Schools, and Perspectives classes across North America and beyond. His sermons, such as “Extreme Prayer” and “Revival Scenes,” emphasized the power of prevailing prayer and the restoration of New Testament church patterns. As a watchman for revival, he authored numerous articles and served with ministries like Watchword and Revival-Library.org, amplifying his message through written works and recordings. Married with a family, though specific details remain private, he continues to advocate for a return to fervent faith and global outreach from his base in the United States.

Sermon Transcription
We are the sons of Abraham by faith, is what the Scripture tells us. And through us, the blessing of Abraham is realized. The ends of the world, the ends of the earth, can come to know Jesus Christ. We are the ingredient. We are the bridge. And this is what God was saying, I made a covenant with you, Abram, that through you and your descendants, much fruit. Come in here and look at the sky. See all those stars? That much fruit. You guys, can you believe that about yourself? God wants to do it. And Abram's going out in faith to a new and unknown land. He and Sarah were healed of their barrenness. In Genesis 21, 1 and 2, it says that God visited. Fruit, come in here and look at the sky. See all those stars? That much fruit. You guys, can you believe that about yourself? God wants to do it. Amen. And Abram's going out in faith to a new and unknown land. He and Sarah were healed of their barrenness. In Genesis 21, 1 and 2, it says that God visited Sarah and she conceived. The idols could not do that for Abram when he was back on the other side of the river. God visited him. He had a covenant with him. He reproduced. And the ends of the earth can be touched through us as sons and daughters of Abraham. Amen. Abram was also a pioneer of holiness. You know, holiness, what are you talking about? Holiness. You talking about the length of my dress? Or how I cut my hair? What are you talking about, what day I worship or what day I don't worship? This is the way I like to define holiness. You know what holiness is, you guys? It is being betrothed to Jesus. I don't know, any folks in here, any young ladies engaged in this room? You know, when you're engaged, you set yourself aside for the love of one man. Isn't that right, ladies? You have reserved your affections, your body, your mind, your soul, your spirit for the exclusive love and affection of one man. That's what holiness is. Between Jesus and this church. Don't you like that? Don't you want to be a bride to Jesus? A lot of times we will give the Lord a common courtesy between people. I mean, excuse me, we'll give one another a common courtesy, a man for a woman, that which the church reluctantly will release to the Lord Jesus Christ. You understand what I'm talking about? Have you said, Lord, I have been set apart? See, that's literally what the word holiness or sanctification means. It means to be set apart. Now, some folks in the church, they got that set apart thing going on pretty good. They're set apart, they're different. They don't do the things the world does. They don't do the things that these people do or that people do. But you know what? They're not set apart for the purpose of the love of Jesus. There is a difference. This is why some folks in the church are pretty sour folks. You know what I'm saying? Always picking up the old lip, you know, and carrying it around like this so you don't trip over the thing. Sour, gloomy, you know, not nice people to be around. You know what I'm saying? They're separated alright. They don't do the things the world does, but they have not set their heart on Him. That's where the life is. That's where the blessing is. You guys, the Lord wants us to be a sanctified people, a people that are reserved for Jesus' love only. Have you done that? Abram was a pioneer of holiness. Let's take a look at some stuff. Abram's going out was for the purpose of separating himself from evil influences. From spiritual adultery, if you will. Giving himself to those old idols. Those things that used to ensnare his heart. Those things that used to give him satisfaction. Those things that he worshipped. That made him feel pretty good about himself. The things that he trusted in. You know what idolatry is? You know what spiritual adultery is? It's trusting in something else more than you trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. I believe it is in Psalms. It says the idols are death and dumb and those who worship them become like them. When we give our hearts to idolatry and to not be separated for the exclusively love of the Lord Jesus Christ, guess what? Our eyes quit working. We don't see what God wants to show us. Our ears quit hearing the command to go. Amen? You guys press in. Listen to me, okay? Radical obedience is always necessary to release the blessing of revival in missions. You know, how can we talk about going to the ends of the earth? You know, some of you guys are here, aren't you? Because you're interested in missions. Some of you guys are here because you want to go and bring reformation, radical revival to the church. Again, you guys, we can't have it. We can't be willing to go here and go there and not go all the way with the Lord Jesus Christ. We try to chop ourself up. Yeah, Lord, I'm going to kind of give this part of my heart but not give my heart, you know, this part of my heart. You know, the flesh is a funny thing. When you sow to the flesh, you reap from the flesh. And some of us, we've got our life all compartmentalized, little pockets. I do good here, here and here, but here's my, this is kind of my thing, you know, I don't want anybody to know about. And so we think somehow that we can sow to this and not affect these other parts of our life. It has been my own personal experience that when I sow to darkness or the flesh in one part of my life, the flesh starts popping out other places I least expected it. Places I didn't want it to pop out. You know what I'm saying? Places I didn't want it to break forth. I just want this thing to be my, kind of my secret deal. You know what I'm saying? Nobody else would see. Look at this, here I'm reacting this way or this thing's, why is this coming out of my heart? It's because when you sow the seeds to the flesh, it reaps all over. In the same way, you guys, when we sow in obedience, and we start casting and broadcasting that seed in more and more parts of our life, it will start to surface in other areas that we've never been able to quite get a handle on. You guys, we need to make a good decision, don't we? Let's talk about Genesis 22, 17 and 18. Awesome passage. It shows us a little bit about Abraham breaking into new areas and what it brought about. Genesis 22, 17 and 18. Blessing, I will bless you. And multiplying, I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven, as the sands which is on the sea, seashore. And your descendants shall possess the gates of their enemies. Man, isn't that awesome stuff? In your seed, all the nations of the earth shall be blessed because you have obeyed my voice. Radical obedience was necessary for the ends of the earth to be blessed. Radical obedience. What do we call radical obedience? In reference, in the context of Abraham, we're talking about faith. Childlike, humble faith. It says, Lord, I don't know exactly where I'm going, but I trust you. All those other things I always worshipped, I could never be their friend. They never spoke to me. They never led me. They never loved me. But you do. And I will humbly submit myself and like a small child, follow you in faith. Radical obedience. Because Abraham did that. Because Abraham was willing to do that. He inherited the ends of the earth. But he shook the nations. And he's shaking the nations through us. And will continue to shake the nations. Amen? Radical obedience. Good verse. You guys underline that twice, then run the highlighter over it a couple times. Okay? Joshua 24, 2 and 3. Joshua 24, 2 and 3. And Joshua said to all the people, thus says the Lord God of Israel, your fathers, including Terah, the father of Abraham, Abraham and the father of Nahor, dwelt on the other side of the river in old times, and they served other idols. On the other side of the river, back where Abraham used to live, in his father's house, they served other idols and other gods. Then I took your father, Abraham, Abraham from the other side of the river, led him throughout all the land of Canaan and multiplied his descendants and gave him Isaac. The son. The son. He wasn't barren anymore. After he crossed the river. After he went out. After he was willing to go and separate himself from his father's house and all those old idols. As he stepped out to do that. Then the blessing came. Then the barrenness was healed. Then the fruitfulness came. Isn't that good you guys? There is something required of us. We're not just going to stumble in this thing. We're not just going to wake up one morning and be God's man of power for the hour. We have got to be willing to lay some things down and trust Him for the strength to carry it out. Amen? Let's look at a couple more verses. Because this is really what I want to focus on you guys. Because I know that there are people in here that you know that you know that you know you have a call on your life to impact the church, to bring reformation, to bring revival. You have a call on your life to go to the ends of the earth, to carry the Gospel to places it has never been. But you guys, our faith is crippled. Our faith is crippled when we don't allow our faith to be built up in this area of personal holiness and consecration to the Lord Jesus Christ. You guys know what I'm talking about, don't you? You say, oh God, I feel the call. It's burning on me when I read that book, when I pray, when I seek Your face. But this contradiction inside here. How can I be Your man? How can I be Your woman? How can I go to the ends of the earth when I cannot even tame this thing inside my heart? How can I really go and do it when I can't control my thoughts? You know what I'm saying, guys? You know what I'm saying, ladies? We have got to be consistent. And that is what the enemy kills you that way. The Lord stirs you up with a calling and an anointing and a purpose and a destiny. But because you don't have the faith to overcome right here in the secret place of your heart where nobody else can see, you're being stumbled and questioned and you have doubts and you go back and forth and you don't press in to take hold of the blessing that is yours. That is yours. It's waiting to be taken, you guys. This is the day. I believe that with all my heart more than ever before. In times past, you guys, I was waiting like everybody else for revival to come. I've been praying ever since I was a Christian for revival. 20 years. That's the truth, you guys. God stirred it in my heart. He's turned me inside out over this deal. And for a long time, I was just waiting like everybody else was. But something started to change the last few years. People have started to taste it. People have started to realize their calling and their destiny and they're going out and experiencing the fruit. And I find myself like Rachel. I am not happy. I am jealous. I am jealous with the godly jealousy of their fruit. I know I was created. I've been appointed for such a time to bring forth fruit. Amen? Do you guys know that? We've got to get rid of the stumbling blocks. We've got to get rid of the obstacles. The inconsistencies. Let Him into your heart. Quit playing with sin. Quit keeping secrets. Say, Jesus, turn me inside out. You've changed my life. I'm not asking you to do it. I'm saying you let Him do it. Amen? But you guys, God wants to make us of one fabric. Consistent. You get it? You understand what I'm talking about? This is the day. This is the time to do it, y'all. The last three years, I stepped out in full-time ministry. I've done everything under the sun. I've had a calling in my life the whole time. You know what I'm saying? The last 20 years, I've driven trucks, delivered hospital beds, stocked cookies. I've been a carpenter. Worked in a metal shop. I've done it all. You know what I'm saying? Everything. The last three years, the Lord says, now's the time, David. I go, well, what's the deal? You know, suddenly I'm different. You know what I'm saying? There has been some changes over the last 10 years or so. But the Lord said, it isn't so much about how you're different. The season has changed. The time is different. Now's the time for me to raise up an army of pioneers. Hidden pioneers. You guys, I'm telling you, the church is about to be shocked. There is a shifting going on in the church. There is an exchange going on. There is a changing of the guard, if you will. You know what I'm saying? You know, just like in every great revival, all of a sudden, just guys popped up out of every... No one knew. I'll give you an example. 1904, the Welsh revival. Had a bunch of guys, you know, movers and shakers in the church were planning to usher in the great revival. And guess what? A 26-year-old, half-educated coal miner snuck up while nobody was looking and rocked their world. They didn't even have a clue. Where did he come from? It started in a young people's meeting that his pastor reluctantly let him have after church one Sunday. Revival broke out there with him and just a band of other guys and gals that sang worship songs. And a lot of times, he didn't even preach. He just prayed in public and the place broke wide open. Evan Roberts, what an awesome guy. Get the books, man. Go and read about him. I'll tell you what, he's something. What a man of passion. In two years, two years, shook Wales upside down. Let's read a couple more passages. 1 Thessalonians 4, 1 and 8. And we'll close. Finally then, brethren, we urge and exhort in the Lord Jesus Christ. He's trying to get your attention. Finally, we urge and exhort in the Lord Jesus Christ. This isn't our idea. This is a God idea, alright? That you should abound more and more. Abound. Grow. Be fruitful. Just as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God. I love this. You guys, every time you see the word please about pleasing God, mark it down. It says something about the character of our God that He has the ability to feel pleasure from His children. That is awesome. You can't get enough of that, you guys. Not just obey Him, not just keep the rules, but to please Him. There's a difference. There's a difference. A lot of us have been keeping the rules for a while, but we have no sense that we're actually bringing satisfaction and pleasure to the heart of God. That's what I was talking about, you guys. Some of us never knew that. We never knew what it was like to please somebody that should have been the one that should have said, yeah, that's good. Let's go on. For you know what commandments we gave you through the Lord Jesus Christ? For this is the will of God, your sanctification, being exclusively reserved for the love and passion of Jesus Christ only. Only. You got a wedding band around your heart? Let's the whole world and every demon in hell know I belong to Jesus. I am married to Him. I am married to Him. You guys, save me from this user-friendly stuff. That wants to tone down the name of Jesus Christ. That wants to refer to Him as Lord and God, but not Jesus. I tell you what, He is the lover of my soul. Any of you husbands in here and you invite your buddies over to the house and tell your wife to go hide in the back room? Wait, honey, just a little while until they get to know me better and then I'll bring you out. I don't think so. You know what I'm saying? But we want to stick Jesus in the back room until they get to know us a little better. You guys, there is nothing good about us but Jesus. Isn't that right? He is the only thing that gives our life value and worth. The rest is just filthy rags. I say it many times. I like to say it. Filthy because they pollute. They make us worse. They make us dirty. Rags because they do not cover. We are naked, ashamed, exposed without the righteousness of Jesus Christ. Amen? It's all by Him. For this is the will of God, your sanctification, that you should abstain from sexual immorality, that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor. Do you know how to do that? Possess your own vessel. Some of our vessels are out of control sometimes, aren't they? Come on, guys. Aren't they? Out of control. Let me chase after it. It's gone. Get back over here. You're trying to possess it. Keep it in its place. This is the will of God that we know how to do this, you guys. And I'll tell you what, if you're under some delusion that you think, oh yeah, once I get married it's all going to be, it's all going to work because there's an outlet. I'm being pretty upfront now, aren't I? Guess what? It doesn't change. If you've sowed into your flesh habits, fleshly habits as single individuals just because you have intimacy with a man or a woman, those things are still there, you guys. You're still going to have to get a grip on them. Do not be deceived. I hear so many young people tell me that, well, once I get married it's all going to be clean, you know, it's going to be okay. It does not work that way. And then the enemy has a real opportunity to heap all kinds of guilt on you. Not only is your conscience not clean in regards to your lover, the Lord Jesus Christ, but then your conscience is defiled towards this man or this woman. Then the enemy really heaps it on. Secrecy that brings shame and brokenness and wounds you. Amen? You know what I'm talking about. The devil loves to draw us into stuff and then just beat us over the head. You'll never be that man of God. You'll never obey the call of God. Now, oh yeah, woman of God, man of God. You know, I mean, I've had him do it to me. I've had him do it to me. He loves to set snares and bring accusation. And what is he after? He's not just after your life. He's after the potential that each of us possess. The Word of God in us. The fact that we are sons and daughters of Abraham mean that we have the potential to shake the world for Jesus. And this whole thing is a tongue, tribe, and nation bowing the knee at the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Giving Him absolute devotion and worship. And the church looking like she's supposed to. Not a religious machine. Not a game. Not about money. Not about performance. Not about ego. Not about scratching each other's back. But about Jesus. All the big thrones on stage toppled over and all the elders on their face worshiping the Lamb like everybody else. Isn't that right, you guys? Praise God for elders. But I like to look at the elders in heaven. They lead the way. Amen? And we've said this. I say this a lot. I don't get tired of saying it. You know what qualifies you to be a leader? A desperate hunger and passion. A deep sense of need for more of the presence of God. Once you lose that, you have just disqualified yourself of being a leader for this simple reason. You can only lead people where you're going. And once you become content and satisfied with how much of God you've got, you are no longer qualified to be a leader. I don't care how much theology you've got under your belt. I don't care how much you know, how smart you are, how great an administrator you are, how you know how to juggle all the circumstances. If you are not desperate for Christ and have a burning right here that I've got to have more of Him, you're not qualified to be a leader. That's the truth, guys. Amen? And so that puts a lot of us on a pretty good level playing field. Isn't that right? We've got a chance, don't we? God loves to use foolish stuff. That's my credentials. It really is. That each of you should know how to possess his own vessel and sanctification and honor. And not impassion or lust like the Gentiles who do not know God. You guys, when we are controlled by other things, what it reveals about us is that we don't really know Jesus. We really don't know what He's done for us on the cross. Did you know that? You say, Oh wow, man, I said the prayer one time. I'm okay. You don't even know God. I don't care how many blue cards you signed, how many times you walked the aisle, or how many prayers you prayed. You know, if you have a life that is utterly controlled by the passions of the flesh, you don't know God. You may have met Him, bumped into Him someplace, but I'm talking about knowing Him intimately, married to Him. Okay? I'm not talking about if you can lose it or if you can't lose it. I'm talking about being passionate for Christ like the scripture talks about. Let's stick to the book. Amen? And you know, it doesn't matter what camp you're from, everybody usually agrees on that. You've got to have a passion. You've got to be pure. That no one should take advantage, that no one should take advantage of and defraud his brother in this manner because the Lord is the avenger of all such as we also forewarned you and testified. For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness. Therefore, he who rejects this does not reject man, but God who has also given us the Holy Spirit. You guys, that's pretty plain. This isn't somebody's special pet theology. We've got to be passionately pursuing a pure life about Jesus if we're really in love with Him, if we're really knowing Him. Amen. Let me finish with one more verse. This is a great one. 2 Timothy 2.19. Not that there's any bad ones in the book, but this is an especially good one, right? 2 Timothy 2.19. I want you to catch this because we're interested about becoming a vessel of God here, aren't we? That's why we're here this weekend. 2.19. You know, you guys, I'm quite aware that you might not get this where you're coming from, what we're talking about. You're going, come on, man, lighten up. You're getting kind of intense, aren't you? You know what I'm saying? But you guys, God wants to raise up you guys as a new generation that know what they're talking about when they call people the radical obedience. You can't give away what you don't got. Isn't that right? Okay. 2 Timothy 2.19. Nevertheless, the solid foundation of God stands having this seal. Important stuff. Foundational stuff. You want to know how the church is built, what the church is made up about, then let's pay attention here as Paul exhorts Timothy. The Lord knows those who are his. There's knowing God again, intimacy, and let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity. Pretty simple. Isn't that right, you guys? You can't really be naming the name of the Lord and trying to propagate and share the gospel out there if you're still harboring all kind of secret stuff, if you're not being a pioneer of holiness. All right? But in a great house, catch this, in a great house, the church is a great house. Isn't that right? There's a lot of stuff in it. But in a great house, there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some of honor and some of dishonor. Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, the ones common, the ones of dishonor, if you cleanse yourself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work. Isn't that why you guys came here this weekend to become prepared for every good work? So you can challenge the church to be what she only dreamed about. So you can challenge others to go to the nations. You guys, us knowing how to possess our vessel, how to break new ground in personal holiness is necessary for us to be useful of God. Don't believe anything else. Ten years ago, I had a breakthrough with God and the Lord met me in my prayer room. I was struggling with some issues of personal holiness and I said, God, this has to change. I know that I have a call in my life and this has to change. There's some things in me that are not right, they're not consistent. And it was hounding me. I said, it's got to settle. And there that day, God just met me and He spoke the word over my life. He re-spoke His word. And He said, I give you victory. I give you victory. And you know, it's one thing for us to tell each other that. It's another thing when God says it. And I knew it was true. In a moment, not some, you know, not this inchworm game. You heard that little song before? Inchworm, inchworm. You know that one? That's kind of how we're kind of squeaking out our sanctification. It's very progressive. At this rate, you know, the millennium will be here and gone by the time we get over this issue. That is not God's will. He doesn't want it to be one unending struggle. I'm not saying that you won't always have something to work through. But I'm talking about you are not meant to be bound your whole life long by debilitating sins and secret thought lives. And you know, inordinate desires. An inability to control your money. An inability to control your mouth. You know, you can't pray. You can't read the word. This is not God's will. He wants to settle these things. In a moment, if you will let Him breathe His word into you tonight, He can settle it. I can give you victory. It's a reality. It's a possibility. It's true, you guys. It's not just a pipe dream. We have many people here that can testify that I was once bound. Now I am free. Man, I got all kinds of... I talk to college guys from time to time. All the time, they pull me aside. Hey, you know, is there really victory about this? Because I don't know anybody that has it. Ladies talk amongst each other. There's all kinds of stuff that we go, can you really be free? Because I don't know one person that really has the victory. Yes. Yes. God wants to give it tonight. Can you believe Him for that? It's a faith thing. How did Abraham get in on what he got on? He said that he believed God and it was reckoned to him as righteousness. His faith is what carried him across the river to become a fruitful person that healed his barrenness. Let's look at some of this, you guys, because it's a faith thing. It's not about us. It's not about, you know, what we can do. It's all about Jesus and how your heart is supernaturally empowered to believe these kind of promises that we're talking about, that you can be a pioneer of revival and shake the church, that you can be a pioneer of missions and shake the world, that you can be a pioneer of holiness and shake your heart. Free from all the things that abound it. It's a faith thing. It's by getting a glimpse of Jesus Christ. Isn't that right? Let's take a look. Two passages. Galatians 3, 6 and 9. Galatians 3, 6 and 9. I've got more for those who are interested. You can ask me later. But we'll wrap it up. It's good stuff, isn't it? It's good stuff. Galatians 3, 6 and 9. Just as Abraham believed God and it was accounted to him as righteousness, therefore, know that only those who are of faith are sons of Abraham. We become a blessing. We can radically obey by faith. Not by our own works, not by our own merits, not by anything we do, by putting our trust in Jesus. You guys, when I first came to Christ, I was very confused. I was thoroughly convicted that I was in trouble, that I was on my way to hell. But I remember standing there at the front of the church and saying, Lord, I want to change. And I started going through all the things that I thought I had to change. And the Lord said, Yeah, I want you to change too. Let me do it. I'll do it. If you make a good decision in the secret place of your heart, I'll give you the power to do it. Isn't that bringing you guys? Isn't that bringing hope? We don't have to make it happen. He does it after we make a quality decision. See, what we're talking about is repentance, a change of mind that leads to a change of heart that God facilitates by the infilling of the Holy Spirit. You know what I'm talking about? By His Spirit coming in and taking control of places that we haven't ever been able to control. That's what brought me to Christ. See, my life is out of control. I found myself doing things I never would have dreamed. Waking up places I never would have imagined. And I knew I was totally out of control. And I said, Lord, I'll give it a good shot. Now it's your time. I'll give my life to your control. That's when it happens. And I'll tell you, as I did that, I had addiction after addiction after addiction fall off me. Were they all gone overnight? No. But so many of them fell off me in a short period of time that it gave me thorough confidence and assurance that God could finish what He started. And that's what the Lord wants to do here tonight. Amen. Hebrews 6, 12. Last verse. Promise. This is foundational stuff, you guys. This is going to be foundational stuff for many things that you're going to hear through the rest of the weekend. And that's why I want to take the time to look at these verses. Hebrews 6, 12 and 15. That you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promise. It's a promise. You know, it's all about a promise. We receive it by faith, but there is an aspect where we can become sluggish and slothful about the promises of God. We've got to soak our heart in the assurance that God has given us through His Word that He wants to be a deliverer. He wants to give us victory. He wants to take out the heart of stone and give us a heart of flesh that can feel, that can be tender, that can be affected easily by His Spirit. Amen. For when God made a promise to Abraham because He could swear by no greater, He swore by Himself saying, Surely, blessing, I will bless you and multiply, I will multiply you. And so, after He had patiently endured, He obeyed the promise. For men indeed swear by the greater, and an oath for confirmation is for them an end to all disputes. You know, it also tells us in Romans that Abraham did not stagger in his faith after considering his own body a hundred years old and Sarah's barrenness. He didn't stagger at it. And I just want to encourage you. I don't care what your situation is tonight. I don't care what has been the contradiction in your life. I don't care what area it is that's been trying to steal your hope of your calling and your vision in your life. Don't stagger at it. If God could take a hundred-year-old man and put him together with an 80-some-year-old barren woman and now we're the fruit of that union. Can't He change your life? Can't He change your life if you'll only look to Jesus? Amen. Let's pray. If I could have the worship team just come up. Let's just ask the Lord real quick what He wants us to do. Lord, we just ask You to show us right now what You want in this moment. Show us what You want in this moment. God, I just pray that You'd breathe hope. I pray You'd breathe hope and courage in every heart, Lord. Every heart, God. God, I can't do it. We can't do it for ourself. I can't change my heart. I can't change anybody else's. But God, I just ask that by Your Spirit You would just breathe in us hope that You can change us. Father, help us to make a good decision to turn from those things that are stealing our potential, those things that are trying to rob the Word of God, the blessing of Abraham from our lives. Lord, I pray that You would just touch each person here. Thank You, Jesus. God, just by Your Spirit, nothing we can work up. I just pray that You just drift over our hearts and just say You can do it. You can be free. It doesn't have to be that way. You can do it through me. Don't be bound by the shame anymore. He's calling you. Trust Him. Trust Him. Surrender. Surrender. Don't hide from your own heart, you guys. You can't hide it from Him, and you know. Don't hide from your own heart. Get it under the blood of Jesus. It's such a simple thing. He is faithful. He is faithful. If we confess our sins, that is to agree with God the way it really is. If we confess our sins and come to Him, He'll cleanse it all away. He'll make us whiter. Whiter. Whiter than snow. Whiter than snow. He won't give us the righteousness of an angel or the best man that you've ever met, but the righteousness of Jesus. That is awesome, you guys. He can give you the victory. It can be different. If you want prayer about this, y'all, I just ask you, either you bow the knee right where you're at, or you can come up here and have somebody pray with you. But do not hide from what God is saying to your heart. If God is dealing with you, just get on your knees and say, Lord, change me. Change me. Do it in my heart, Lord. I can't do it. Confess. I can't do it. I'm tired of trying. Some of us are weary and worn out of trying to do it in our own strength. And we're just killing ourselves trying to do it by our own goodness and by Bible drills and all kinds of other silly stuff that's good, but it will not substitute for a touch of God and a heart filled with hope and faith. Amen? Lord, we just ask You that You just move, Lord Jesus, right now by Your Spirit. We just ask You to do it. We ask You to start something. Just to start something, Lord, that You can finish. We can't finish it. And God, we can rest in You in that. That You're the author and You're the finisher. And Lord, we look to You, Jesus. We look to You, Jesus. God, put within our heart just feet that want to run to You, run into Your presence. Feet that are in a hurry. God, that want to give You the best. That want to serve up a delight that brings You pleasure. Put within our heart, God, feet that are in a hurry to go to the ends of the earth. And God, put within our heart a passion for holiness. A passion for personal purity. For the sake of the Gospel. For the sake of the Word to go forth to those who have never heard, Lord Jesus. Remove the stumbling blocks in us that robbed the nations from the Gospel, that robbed the church from the reviving Word they so desperately need. Lord, I pray that You would do this in Jesus' name. In Jesus' name. If you want somebody to pray with, as the worship team sings, I just encourage you to come forward and receive prayer. Amen. Oh, Jesus, my Lord Friends me in forgiveness Oh, Jesus, my Lord Peace and joy will follow And peace and joy will follow Lead me to repentance Oh, Jesus, my Lord Friends me in forgiveness Oh, Jesus, my Lord And peace and joy will follow And peace and joy will follow Lead me, lead me Lord, give me the grace I need Follow every place You lead me Gently to Your throne of grace Function as to see Your face again Lead me to repentance Oh, Jesus, my Lord Friends me in forgiveness Oh, Jesus, my Lord Lead me, lead me Lord, give me the grace I need Follow every place You lead me Lead me gently to Your throne of grace Lift my eyes to see Your face again Lead me back to my first love Take me back to the day I met You Take me back to my first love Won't You take me back again Take me back to my first love Take me back to the day I met You Take me back to my first love Won't You take me back again And peace and joy will follow And peace and joy will follow Lead me, lead me Lord, give me the grace I need Follow every place You lead me Lead me gently to Your throne of grace Lift my eyes to see Your face again Take me back to my first love Take me back to the day I met You Take me back to my first love Won't You take me back again Take me back to my first love Take me back to the day I met You Take me back to my first love Won't You take me back again Take me back to my first love Take me back to the day I met You Take me back to my first love
