Milton Green

Milton Green (1943 - 1987). American evangelist and Bible teacher born in Tennessee. Raised in a troubled home with an abusive father, he spiraled into alcoholism, drug addiction, and homelessness, suffering a major heart attack at 43 that left doctors predicting his death. Converted in 1972 after crying out to Jesus, he was miraculously healed and began studying Scripture intensely. A carpet cleaner by trade, Green preached across the U.S. from the late 1970s to 1987, often alongside James Robison and Leonard Ravenhill, focusing on repentance, holiness, and spiritual warfare. He authored The Great Falling Away Today (1986), warning against carnal Christianity, and recorded hundreds of sermons, widely shared online. Married to Joyce, a Christian who prayed for his salvation, they had no children. His teachings, emphasizing victory over sin through Christ, stirred thousands at seminars, though some criticized his focus on demonic influence. Green’s words, “God’s Word is the only standard for truth,” underscored his uncompromising style. His ministry, marked by humility, continues to influence evangelical circles globally

See, look here. What if you have, look here. Over here you have somebody that's got a righteousness and they got a little more light over here. They moved over here and they got them another set of righteousness. And over here, they moved over here and they got them another set of righteousness. Over here they moved and they got another set of righteousness. And then you've got over 400 denomination teachers in this country. And most all of them, they've established their own righteousness and not submitting to the righteousness of God. Are you hearing what I'm getting? That's called self-righteousness. And then you make your own rules. One, two, three, four, five. Obey them and you're saved. Tell me how you're going to do one, two, three, four, five and get saved from the powers of darkness and the wrath of God. Tell me! Without overcoming and being led by the Spirit of God. There's no way. Can you see what I mean by waking up from a nightmare? Now here is what righteousness is and God dies then and it's righteousness and God dies today. Here it comes right now in verse 25. And it will be righteousness for us. I want you to circle this. It will be righteousness for us. And then I want you to circle that word if about four times. There's a condition. It will be righteousness if we are careful and observe all this commandment before the Lord our God just as he commanded us. Amen? Do you see that? Folks, I want you to hold your place right there. I want you to turn with me to Matthew 5. Praise God. Praise the Lord. Matthew 5. I want you to turn there, please. Are you there? All right, in verse 17. Jesus said, Do not think that I came to watch. I didn't come to abolish the law or the prophets. I did not come to abolish but to watch. Well, could you hold another place? Huh? All right, hold two places. Now I want you to turn over to Romans 8. Now, folks, some think that Jesus came to fulfill the law that you come and acknowledge him, right? You say, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and died on the cross. Then you don't have to go obey the law, do you? Is that right? Well, let's see what the Bible says. When you receive Jesus Christ, does the Spirit come into your life? Does the Spirit of God come into your life? Now, when you were walking after the flesh, you were walking after the rebellious nature of Satan and you broke all of God's laws. Amen? And so this is the purpose of the law. All right, now, if we look there in verse... So we receive the Spirit of God. Let's see what the Spirit of God's for in verse 12. So then, brethren, verse 12, 8-12, we're under obligation not to flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you're living according to flesh, which is breaking God's law, what does it say is going to happen to you? I can't hear you. But still and all, we're told to come and say some words and you can walk after the flesh and everything's going to be all right. Are you hearing what I'm saying? Okay. But if you're led by the Spirit of God, you're going to put to death the deeds of the body and then you're what? And if you put to death the deeds of the body, you're obeying the commandments of God. That's how you fulfill it. Are you hearing what I'm saying? I can't hear you. Then look at me here just a minute. Who do you think the sons of God are? That walk after the flesh or walk after the Spirit? If you're led by the Spirit of God, Jesus Christ is your Lord. Amen? If Jesus Christ is your Lord, he's going to lead you to put to death all rebellion. He's not going to lead you into rebellion. Isn't that right? Then look at the next verse. For all, all, all, all, all, all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are the ones that's what? Now let me ask you something, folks. Now look at me. Why are we at Jesus' time to lead us with the Spirit? Because he comes to our lives. He's going to purify our hearts. And this is why we have our hearts washed and put to death the deeds of the flesh. When he shows we've come to the Word of God and the Spirit of God shows that you've got this in your heart, you choose again and say, Lord, I love you more than I do that anger and unforgiveness. I love you more than I do criticism. I love you as the Spirit of God shows it. And you suffer in the flesh and you see some sin because you love the Lord more than you do sin. Amen? You love him with all your heart. How many see that? All right, you're going to suffer in the flesh. Now look at verse 17. And if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fell heirs with God, if indeed we what? You're going to suffer as you overcome the flesh. You suffer as you give up these things, but you prove you love the Lord with all your heart in order that we may be what? We're suffered as we put to death the deeds of the flesh in order that we may be glorified with the Lord Jesus Christ. There's where the glory, you see, you get glory instead of wrath. Let's read the next verse. Verse 18, Paul says, For I consider the suffering of this present time not worthy to be compared with the glory that's to be revealed at us. It's not even to be. Mission, folks, what we go through here, this is a test in this world to prove that you love the Lord with all your heart. You pass the test and you have glory forever. I have not seen or entered in the heart of the man. And the whole purpose that Jesus came here, Jesus loved the Lord with all his heart, and his neighbor is his self, and he came here to make you just like him. He came here to show you how. And as example, and we look in verse 29, so that you would be conformed to the image of his son. Amen? Is that correct? So then look at me, folks. Everybody look at me. So the purpose that Jesus come here for is to be Lord and master of your life. You repent from Satan being Lord and master of your life, and then you come and let Jesus be Lord of your life, and he puts his spirit in you to show you the way to overcome. Amen? And then you overcome, and you endure to the end, and you bear fruit, and your fruit remains. And then the Spirit of God leads you to put to death the deeds of the flesh. What are the deeds of the flesh? The deeds of the flesh are sin. And what is sin? Breaking God's commandments. And then God's commandments brings judgment and a curse, which is death. So then this is what Paul is talking about, the law of sin and death, is when you walk out of the flesh, it's sin, and then it brings the judgment of death from God. Amen? Does everybody see that? So then we look back there in verse 2. Verse 2, For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus. We already have seen in Christ Jesus, you're obeying his commandments, that the nature of God to be perfected in you. Don't you remember that in 1 John 2 verse 5? But the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus sets you free from this law of this sin, or this fleshly sin and death. Amen. Hallelujah. Does everybody see that? Huh? Next verse says, Because he condemns sin in the flesh, and why do we put to death the deeds of the flesh? Look at verse 4. In order that the what? I can't hear you. In order that the requirements of God's law might be what? It's going to be fulfilled in us who come and say some words, find the best doctrines, walk into a structure. No, it's going to be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh. No more. You no longer walk according to the flesh, but you walk according to the Spirit of God. Folks, what are we going to do with the Word of God? Hey, folks, I want to ask you something. How can anything get clearer when the Lord opens it up to us? It's been there all the time. The Lord just got ready for us now to see it. You say, well, why ain't anyone? I say, hey, folks, when you're trusting in intellect, academics, and men to see something, you're not trusting the Lord. Let me ask you something. Why hadn't you seen it? Because you've been putting your trust in men. And the men you've been putting your trust in have been putting their trust in doctrines of men and the precepts of men. Are you hearing what I'm saying? Let's just continue there. For those who are walking according to the flesh, they set their minds on things of the flesh, but those who are walking according to the Spirit, they have their minds set on what? Look at me, folks. If I had never repented, don't love the Lord with all my heart, my mind is going to be set on the things of the flesh right up there. My mind is going to be full of jealousy, unforgiveness, resentment, stealing, hatred, criticism, rebellion, revenge, and starcat and bitterness. I'll be entertaining things in my life, my mind, all the time like that, and be walking in misery. That's torment. You know it? But if you love the Lord with all your heart, your mind is set on the things of the Spirit. Love, joy, peace, love, and so on. How can I go help somebody? I'm so full of God. I'm so full I've got to go find somebody to slosh on. Now this is what God does to me. He fills us so full of love that we have to go find a whosoever will out here. You don't show partiality. You go find somebody that's really hurting that you can help them see. Now that's the way God made us. Amen? So we become ministers of reconciliation. We become ambassadors. And we take this word of reconciliation and we've been reconciled and we go down and say, be reconciled. Be reconciled back to God. You're done with the devil now. Repent. Be reconciled back to God. And then you no longer live for yourself, but you live for him who died for you. You become a new creation. You came as a flesh to be born into this world and through the Spirit you're going to have a pure heart like Jesus and then you're going to be born into heaven. That's how you're born again, through the Word of God. You're going to be washed by the Spirit and the Word. Amen? Glory be to God. Now let me ask you something. He said faithfully. He called you and he's going to bring it to pass. Now, if you don't want to walk in faith, you just won't believe. You believe you've got something to do with it. You know what I'm saying? But it means you have to walk in faith. What is faith? Showing up? Faith? It's when you let Jesus control your life. If the Spirit of God shows you you did something wrong, don't walk in stubbornness. Repent. Go make it right for that person. Amen? Because you do everything under the Lord. Again, you know what happens? All heaven is poured out on you. You don't have to wait until you get to heaven. It's poured out on you right here. Most people don't even know what their doctrines believe. They'll say, so let him control my men. They don't even read the Bible. That's how men can control them. They don't know what the Bible says, but then they can be controlled by men. I was dying and crawling around on my knees, and I talked to a pastor about being anointed with oil. I found that scripture. I thought it was pretty good. They lay hands on us. I mean, no. If any among you is sick, I was sick. I was dying. Doctors always sent me home to die. If any among you is sick, let him call for the elders of church. Let them know I'm anointed with oil, and he will be restored. Boy, I like that. A dying man can get pretty interested in what God has to say about healing. Amen? Perfect. For if your mind is set on the flesh, it's what? I can't hear you. Death is working in your life. Is that what your Bible says? Look at me, folks. Does the law bring death? Is it a ministry of death? 2 Corinthians 3, 7. Just write it in there. The law is a ministry of death.
