2 Chronicles 23:2

the chief, &c.] Governours in the common-wealth.

the house, &c.] The middle part of the temple, where the priests and Levites did their holy services.

holy] Heb. blinesse. For they in speciall were set apart to holy services.

shall keep the watch] Shall stand in the great court, to keep all but priests and Levites from entring into the holy place.

2 Chronicles 23:8

dismissed not] Priests and Levites had their courses to serve: which when they had exuted, they were ordinarily permitted to go to their houses: but at this time they were not prmitted so to do.
